I absolutely love my Taycan, but I have to admit Porsche as a brand is really starting to get on my nerves. The level of incompetence I have experienced is honestly hard to believe. I have owned a Tesla for five years, and their service process is light years ahead of what I have seen from Porsche. I genuinely don’t understand how such a premium brand can fall so far behind in this area.

To give you some context: my car has been in the service center countless times due to the well-known navigation issue, and eventually the PCM had to be replaced. Since then, my InnoDrive has completely disappeared. The feature is simply gone. What is even stranger is that it used to appear in the optional features list in the Porsche app, but now it’s been removed there as well.

So honestly, how am I not supposed to be frustrated?

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I had an issue where I completely lost LKA and Emergency Braking after a couple of recalls were taken care of by Porsche. I immediately let them know and they had my car for a couple of weeks trying to figure out the issue. At the end, they had to replace the module that was in charge of the ADAS systems. I suggest you do the same and tell them that this needs to be addressed. You paid for Innodrive and it is supposed to be part of the options you paid for. Show them your Monroney label if you have to.

Your car probably had InnoDrive bought/added via the website after manufacturing when this was still a thing, which is tied to the PCM for some reason.

When they replaced your PCM, they can't see what was bought, as that service is deprecated. So they didn't recode it to the new pcm, as your car's VIN probably doesn't have it listed as an option

At least that's the scenario I have heard of before.

But yes, porsche software is a nightmare. What deleaership? Hopefully they are understanding, and can reactivate it for you, it shouldn't take long.

Hi, thank you for the reply. My dealer is Porsche Center Zug. Yes, what you mentioned could be the reason, but come on, you should mark what the car has before you replace a PCM. It is not like you have 20 features you can order as software on the Taycans. I sent them an email to ask, and I will ask for this to be installed. I hope they can do it via OTA.

I would suggest a book titled The Innovator's Dilemma to help enlighten yourself on how established companies fall so far behind the upstarts - it's not a new phenomenon.

A classic text. As relevant today as it was when first published 30 years ago.
