Hi all, quick one …

Picked up T4S about 6 weeks back. Mileage is around 2k kms now, but battery seems to run out after 230-240 km (140 miles) range.

Thought it was meant to be 350km range.

Dealer reckons give it a few more charges and it will get better. Not sure if that’s the case if you guys had similar experience.

Driving is all pretty much in the city, and hardly any hills.

Cheers!

Does your projected range show 230km/140mi at 100% SoC? Seems low... Do you have 21" wheels? Do you race it extra fast? Do you have the larger Plus battery or the standard one?

Thanks — on full charge, it shows 400km range or so. But moves down fairly quickly. Drove only 5 km at full charge last week, and it went down to 370km left …

Nope don’t drive fast…pretty much in city and mainly in traffic times, so avg speed isn’t more than 40-50kmh (unfortunately).

Yes wheels 21” and standard battery .

370 km is about 230 mi which may not be abnormal for a 4S with 21" wheels and a standard battery. City traffic (lots of stop and go) is not necessarily more energy efficient than steady highway speed. 250-260 miles must be feasible IMHO.

What is your consumption reading? Does your car use recup?

In UK with performance battery plus & 20" wheels -220 miles (winter) in first few months then regularly 230 - 240 miles and now with warmer weather (21C) around 249 miles.

Use of AC will quickly consume energy and impact headline range.

Folks in US can get 270 - 300 miles which is impressive.

In summary, range variability is the norm depending on many factors.

Check the Taycan microsite where the range checker is and configure as per your car. This is pretty accurate. What results do you get?

I reckon 180 - 190 will be your max.

Pay no attention to the WLTP numbers as they are unrealistic and unattainable for most.

I look forward to testing and attempting 300+ mile range. I'm in a year-round warm climate and have plenty of flat ground. [RWD - P battery plus on 20" turbo aero wheels.]

if hypermiling is your thing, have a blast.
I drive the car with little regard towards range when I plan my trips and know where the next charge stop will be. the only issue is whether I can get a charge at the EA charger.

The nice thing about the Taycan is that you can do either - at will - without compromising the other: go for a long relaxed highway journey while reaching for a 300-miles-plus range or have a blast accelerating or carving curves without worrying about consumption. It is a testament to the Taycan's versatility that it does both well. Now if Porsche would get the electronics and software fixed, they would have the perfect car...

I am with @kort on this one. Who wants to hyper-mile a Taycan on flat, straight, boring roads in Florida?????? The only way someone is getting near 300 miles of range on a "long relaxed highway journey" in a Taycan is if they are doing 55mph or 60mph with a tailwind. No thank you. On I-75 or I-95 you would get run off the road doing those speeds.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but if you don't live in an area with wide open spaces, hills or mountains, or areas to open the car up, it is a waste to even get a Taycan. I would love to drive a Taycan from Miami to Key West, but you can have the rest of Florida, sorry.

I'll be driving the snot out of it expect when I do S. Miami / Key West / road trips. I'm just interested to see how much I can get out of during say the average weekly commute. Not wasting the Taycan by any means.

I certainly get it. Hopefully, you have a charger at home. That makes all the difference in the world. It is less than 150 miles from Naples to Miami and there is a EA charger in Key West. Forget range, my man, and drive that car like it was designed to be driven!!!!

It's also unbearable in any other vehicle, FWIW.

back in the day when I had my first ev, a leaf, which had around 75 miles of range there were the EV nerds who would try to hypermile, I think one guy got 125 miles out of his car but he never went faster than 18mph. I suppose some people get their jollies doing nerdy things like hypermiling.
I bought the taycan for it's performance. if I wanted to travel less enthusiastically a camry would do.
