people are always asking about 19.2 kW home charging - you know the 100/80 amp version in North America - well I've had 19.2 kW charging on my previous EV's and while it's not necessary 363 days a year - there is always 1 or 2 days a year where - yeah I want that

today was that day!!!

lots and lots of driving - came home with 30% SOC - and I have to turn around later this evening and drive to Sonoma for a PCA track weekend…it sure would've been nice to have a 19.2 kW charger rather than just the 11 kW charger - would turned the car around in about 2 hours instead of 4 hours…

but it's only 1 or 2 days a year, but today was one of them.

I think if you can travel at around 82% of the speed of light, then it will seem like the car is charging at 19.2kW.

How fast is your GT3?

A stop at an EA station for 15 mins would be as good as 19.2kw charging once a year ?
there are no good EA stations in my area yet - and I had to be "home" - a fast charging stop was't in the timing the other day...

I didn't have time to stop for gas - LOL

there are two EA stations coming soon to the santa cruz area - one as of last week - and one that has been 99% finished in watsonville but inactive since at least dec. 2020

Back in the sepia-toned days of 2012 & my first EV, I opted for dual on-board chargers for 80A of fun, because range anxiety. Being able to charge toot-suite was necessary maybe one or two times in my 5 years of ownership, and even then I prolly could’ve taken advantage of a supercharger instead.

So since my garage is already well-heeled for delivering 80A, I’m not sorry that my “off the rack” car came with the 19.2kw OBC. But, I probably wouldn’t have optioned it if I had to order.
