I'm looking into buying a used Taycan - what should I ask the dealership to check for?

- Battery degradation (is there an easy way to do this? )
- Wear of b-pillar
- wear of driver side seat bolsters

Anything else I'm missing?

Service records and title. Make sure it wasn't a lemon buy back, if there was significant and long repairs in the shop.

Good points.

Luckily this isn't the case for the car I'm looking at . It's an loaner / demo car.
But now I'm thinking it probably had many hard launches and super charging done to it.
I would feel a lot better if I knew how much the battery has degraded.

It'll still have the same battery warranty, so like everything else on the car, as long as the warranty is ok, you're good.

Likely not a lot of high speed charging, because doubt a dealer would have a DC charger, and even if they did, it's probably 50kW at best.

If you care about rattles test drive the car on some rough pavement and see if it has any. Also check for rattles with loud music. In particular check for rattles from the door panels, driver seat and b pillar

I loathe rattles. I just figured it was a problem with my 987 era car. I didn’t realize it could carry into 2020. Is this a common issue?

I personally think that the Taycan's interior quality is subpar compared to all other Porsche models. Every plastic trim I push with my had squeaks. I have driven numerous Macans and Cayennes and their interior was put together so much better (compared to my Taycan's).
If you search this forum you will find two big threads about rattles. I show how I fixed the rattles from my door panels in one thred

I don't know if the rattles are the norm or the exception but you have the opportunity to check the car before you buy it.

Demo model or some mileage on it? No issues?
It was bought by someone who had to do more than the average number of road trips, so quickly found out an EV wasn't really handy. It was used by the PC for a few demo's and errands, but not excessive. It had just 4,500 miles on it when I bought it. Three months later just a bit more, close to 10,000 miles on the odometer
And no issues, just a brilliant car of which I am very proud to be driving it(boys dream).

You have asked a really interesting question which will become more importance with time. There is currently no way for an owner to "know" the current capacity of his battery but there is every indication that it can be determined or at least well approximated. And it is the largest and single most important piece of equipment on the car.

The car you are looking at is not old enough to likely have any big issues. I would not rely on the warranty as the terms are good for the company but not so much for you. I would ask the dealer to measure and report back on the battery capacity and see what they come back with. Then ask them how they did it. If its something nebulous like it's within specs, tell them to go back and get you a real answer.

According to the battery warranty statement in the friendly manual, It states that Porsche does have a method for determining battery health, and this is (will be?) the arbiter of whether the battery warranty kicks in or not should you make a degradation claim. Ask the dealer to perform that procedure on the car.

don’t sweat the battery - there is nothing to be done about it in any case and your have an excellent warranty - and Taycan’s haven’t been out long enough for there to be any real “abuse” - it would’ve had to have been fast charged multiple times a day every day for there to be any real concern - even then you’re likely to be good.

EV’s are easier to purchased used since there is very little about them that degrades other than consumables.

you should be fine.
