I had the exact same dilemma. As I've already owned EVERY Tesla there is including a 2010 Roadster, I still went to drive the latest Model S iteration. I found that the yoke wheel is horrible, but the round wheel blocks a lot of the cluster. And in general I was left unimpressed by the car. I wanted it to be something more.

I found a local Lucid Air Touring model to drive, and I absolutely loved it. I even put down a deposit on a car that was located in Chicago and got approved for their really aggressive leasing. I will say this: I wanted semi autonomous driving features, similar to at least the ALK features on Porsche, the basic AutoPilot on Tesla. To get that on the Lucid, the Pure does not include; and the 18 month lease promo on the Touring made that the smarter buy.

(side note: car market is softening and used car values are bad, even more so on any EV; so if you get anything I suggest a short term lease, or a used car)

Ultimately, the forums on the Lucid and a few owners I spoke to (and a few post Lucid owners on here) convinced me otherwise. It felt like it was going to be much like my early Tesla experiences a decade ago and I did not want that. I was worried that I'd have issues, and the nearest actual service center for me is a bit far away. I also liked the idea of getting the most car for the lowest monthly cost, so a used Taycan 4 CT wagon sounded cool. But I do still want a Lucid Air once they square things up a bit better :) for the moment I think a used/depreciated Taycan is the smarter buy though.

EDIT -- and unsurprisingly @MAPC with the tandem post -- my twin, or brother from another mother ... from his keyboard to your eyes ;)
Great points guys. I test drove a Model S with the yoke and did not like it. I think the Model 3 even felt more responsive and more like the Taycan than the S ever could. I just checked auto trader in my area and an Audi e-tron GT just popped up with little to no mileage and way less than the Porsche. Another consideration I guess!

By far my favorite Tesla was the 2018 Tesla model 3 Performance we had for 49k miles (sold just before warranty ended). We also had a LR/AWD Model Y, which was nice-- but the 3 just felt more taught and fun to drive. As it should given how light weight they are. It rattled and such, but it was a blast. Still, I'd take Porsche refinement -- and the track day in the model 3P was before track mode and the cooling couldn't keep up; maybe nowadays track mode does better.

Audi eTron GT is a great car -- and the discounts on those are amazing. You get additional $$ that can be "stacked" if you have a Costco membership, so ask your dealer about that. My only issue there is that the deep discounts on brand new never-titled eTron GT will drive the used prices down, meaning the depreciation will be steep. Even here in these forums some Taycan buyers have found dealers discounting-- those new car discounts are worthwhile if you want new -- but just keep in mind that will negatively impact resale value for your first few years too. G'luck!

Definitely drive both the Taycan and the GT close together. I love Audi and their tech is bundled nicely and very user friendly. Some prefer the GT styling, others prefer the Taycan, and you certainly would not be wrong to choose the Audi. I wrestled back and forth but the exterior and interior of the Porsche just spoke to me over the Audi.

YMMV

I only would add to check the tires!
Should I be concerned about buying a used 2020 Taycan 4S with 25,000 miles? It is pre-owned certified but in Canada the car still will cost $109,000.
The only thing holding me back is the mileage (41,000 km = 25,000 miles).
Any comments would be really appreciated.

The more I look at the Audi, the less attractive it becomes. Just looks like a squashy a5

but what do I know I drive a Tesla :CWL:

though it seems like I am in your boat now. We are reaching critical battery failure on the S…..so I’ve been looking at the Porsche cpo listings non stop the past week!

My biggest problem is I am in Edmonton and want to drive to Jasper and Banff. The only chargers along the way are Tesla except for some Flo 50 kWh chargers. I know in Calgary there are Petro Cans with 350 kWh which work great with the Taycan.

Totally get it. That’s why I’ve kept an old beater Prius around since 2014. But it just sits on my driveway collecting dust….im just not a road tripper. And my wife has a model 3 now, so I suppose I can ditch the Prius. Really sucks (from a convenience standpoint) that Porsche hasn’t jumped on the supercharger bandwagon. Goodluck with the decision

My S’s battery has found some life. Had to drain in to below 10% and charge it all the way up….hoping the error was a mistake (an error lol)…was saying my HV battery had lost 50% capacity

long story short, just hoping by summer I can see some price drops on the Taycan STs….family of 5, so the convenience of the hatch really comes in handy

The Turismo's seem awesome to me. Nothing like them on the road.
