Is anyone else getting this wind buffeting noise/sound from the rear? I feel like its coming from somewhere in the back but I can't figure out where. There are little aero/winglet pieces along the top corner where the hinge for the hatch is but I don't know if thats what it is

Is it just me?

I am getting that wind buffeting noise from the rear of my car if I have all 4 windows open. I thought that it was the carseat that I have in the passenger side back seat. I will have to do some looking when I have some time.

Thank you for posting this. It's not just you. It's maddening to me. It's very subtle but it sounds like a window is cracked (it's not).

I too was thinking about the aero strips at the hatch but I don't think we'd hear that exterior turbulence from inside. Also, they shouldn't be creating turbulence. I'm wondering if it's a faulty seal at the rear glass or the pano roof.

It's remarkable how exaggerated every little sound is when there's nothing else to listen to.

Hmmm - might be using the Sport Sound more than I thought :)!

So I put the passenger side rear seat down today (I was transporting lumber) and wow the buffeting got way worse! Sometimes, it's so bad I feel like I need to pop my eardrums due to pressure equalization. This could be a deal-breaker for me and this car :swear:

I get buffeting from my Macan if front windows are open. When I lower the rears a little it goes away. It seems as though the buffeting in the CT is with windows closed. Are you saying it's worse with a seat down and windows closed???

It's maddening. It's way more subtle than the buffeting that normally occurs from open windows. But it's there. Windows closed. And yes, worse (or more obvious) with seat down.

I haven't heard anything like you describe (knock on wood).

Hmmm. I'm willing to connect with someone in the Maryland area and climb in the back with seats down while an owner drives. It sure would be good to isolate the location to see if there is a solution.

@Torv - This is seemingly an anomaly found in the CT.

@jlee504 and @silversurfer Does the buffeting happen at a particular speed range, or is it constant above a particular speed? Do you guys have the roofbars on your CTs?

I have roofbars, not sure about the others. It is very subtle but constant once you get above 50mphish.

its quiet enough that if you play the radio you don't hear it or you just get used to it and tune it out.

I wonder does the buffering stop if a window is slightly open? That would suggest an issue with the trunk/boot door seal. (Acknowledging that the outside wind noise might drown it out).
