Certainly if the cars they tested were using a combination of recuperation and friction braking when using the brake pedal (and it seems they were) then this may well be true.Apparently not. See above. Your argument should be that OPD is only slightly more efficient. Not that it is less efficient.
Otherwise we would need to repeal the laws of physics...
I have driven 2 vehicles with one pedal driving, a 45 minute demo of a Jaguar i-Pace and my Husqvarna lawnmower.
I didn't like it on the Jaguar but have got used to it on my mower over the years.
