I have noticed that the Gt steering wheel with paddles shifters is now available for the Taycan sport Turismo turbo and turbo s after being introduced for the Gts and Gt. Does anyone know if the paddle shifters will be available for the cross turismo turbo and turbo s ?. If you are buying new it would make sense to option this wheel especially with the virtual gear change rumours.

Hmm not sure that it will be of any use for that plus you lose steering wheel heating - feature set:

GT-sports steering wheel in Race-Tex Black including two Mode Switches and paddles
£394.00
GT-sports steering wheel in Race-Tex Black including two Mode Switches and paddles
Multifunction GT-sports steering wheel, including paddles in Darksilver for activating the Push-to-Pass and setting the energy recovery level as well as two single mode switches for drive modes and PASM. Steering wheel rim (diameter 360 mm) in Black Race-Tex with top centre marking and airbag module in smooth-finish leather in black; manual fore/aft and height adjustment.

Predefined drive modes can be individually adjusted in various sporty vehicle settings such as chassis level and Porsche Electric Sport Sound (note: setting options depend on equipment)

Note: The standard steering wheel heating is not available.

I think the advantage is the car being eligible for more updates that will retain the value of the car better than without ie virtual transmission. But agreed there is not much gain and the attack mode is a gimmick, however, when the car is a few years old and the car is obtainable by many they will start looking for these options.

I think options such as pano roof, full leather, etc., are options people are looking for. Not so on gimmicks like fake shifters, passenger displays, etc.

That said, it is yours first. What do YOU want? Options to satisfy the next owner are a waste of money. Do not trust rumours about updates, especially when Porsche claims them. It may never come, you may never get it, even if you have the right hardware.

Hmm, good to be optimistic but I doubt it will add anything significant to an already poor resale value plus if limited to GTS and above the incidence will be fairly low given the overpriced nature of these variants not to mention glacial sales.

Seems a bizarre thing to add (by stealth) at this stage. Paddles yes if added to all and intended for controlling recuperation level.

Perhaps MY27 will see paddles as standard across the board. I have them on my 911 and Macan ICE for gear changing and have never felt the need to use them (or Sport Reponse).

I had the paddle shifters on my etron (SUV, not GT), they were there only to increase/decrease the level of recuperation ... I used them frequently
Would have liked that option on the taycan

As for simulated gear-shifts, hmm, not sure ... I do like the sound of the actual downshift with electric sport sound on, every now and then :)

To say you're reaching would be the understatement of the century.
Most likely no car below MY27 will EVER get the virtual transmission.
Steering wheel heating should be much higher priority than the paddles.

My wife has a EV Cadillac and it has only one paddle shifter that is used to stop or slow the SUV with recuperation only. So at least it has an actual purpose

Using the left paddle to downshift is the only thing I miss about my Boxster.

I had a 2019 honda insight - essentially a hybrid civic that had paddles. You could pull them to increase regen as you decelerate. It was kind of useful I suppose, but that car was about the furthest thing from a sports car you could get.

I'm new to the vehicle, but paddles would be a major upgrade to the experience in my opinion. That they have them on the etron and not the Taycan just grates.

For me, the ideal would be the left for different levels of regeneration, or toggle twice to on/off. The right would put the car in neutral, or replicate the dashboard "transmission" toggle altogether.

I can't find where anyone has retrofitted paddles and reprogrammed to add the function.

Interesting. My wife drives a Mercedes EQB which is an EV, and it also has paddles for exactly this reason - to set regenerative braking levels.

I use the left paddle every time I slow down now. Gives it that downshift feel, more interactive experience
