Hi all,

Picked up a 2023 Porsche Taycan GTS about a week ago and absolutely loving the car overall….but I’ve started experiencing a few issues already and wanted to see if anyone else has had similar.

Currently booked into Porsche on 13th May, but the list seems to be growing:

Issues so far:
  • Navigation system intermittently resets once a destination is set
  • Rear spoiler fault – getting “Spoiler fault, adapted driving permitted” and it’s stuck raised at times
  • Passenger display screen freezing quite frequently
  • Passenger seat adjustment issue – when lowering, one side moved while the other didn’t, causing the seat to twist
  • Porsche app not updating – car status (battery %, range etc.) didn’t update for over 24 hours
Given I’ve only had the car a week, it’s a bit frustrating.

A few questions:
  • Has anyone experienced multiple electrical gremlins like this at once?
  • Are these typically software-related on the Taycan or separate hardware issues?
  • Is there a known fix/update that tends to resolve things like the nav reset and app syncing?
  • Worth pushing for a full system software update when it goes in?
Would appreciate any insight before it goes into Porsche so I know what to expect.

Here is what I would do as I wait for the workshop visit:

1) Reset the PCM using the two finger method. This may clear up the gremlins
2) I assume the phone app was working and now isn't. Check to see that you are not in the privacy mode. This can be checked via the PCM. Do this after resetting.
3) Check to be sure you have an LTE connection. Upper right hand side of the PCM. Its the cell phone icon.
4) Using a flashlight, check under the seat to see if anything is blocking the track not moving. I am fairly sure there is only on motor to actuate the track/channel drive. Unless this has been damaged, it may be blocked. Must say - this is a first on this squawk.

If a system update is required it will be performed along with every other update needed.
Good luck and yes these cars have software issues all the time.

The nav issue is known for folks in Europe. There’s a mega thread on this topic along with some workarounds until the fix is released.

Do you know if the car had all the recalls completed before you took ownership? This is important to isolate issues, although the hardware ones are new to me.

Don’t be discouraged, the car is great. I own a 2024 4S and haven’t had any issues (knock on wood).

Cheers for the detailed advice, really appreciate it.

I’ve tried the two-finger PCM reset a number of times now but unfortunately no change.

The phone app was working fine initially but has now stopped updating. I’ll check the privacy mode setting and LTE connection in the morning as suggested.

I’ve also had a look under the seat and can’t see anything obvious blocking the rails, so that one’s a bit puzzling.

For context, I only picked the car up a week ago directly from Porsche and was told everything had been checked over and fully updated, which is why the number of issues has caught me a bit off guard.

Hopefully it’s all software-related and can be sorted with an update when it goes into Porsche.

Agree on the software side… slightly surprising given how long the Taycan’s been out now. Still early days with the car though, so hoping it’s just a few teething issues rather than anything more.

Thanks again for the help 👍

I have a 2024 CT4 that has been fairly trouble free. If you spend time here, it will seem like these cars are a nightmare, but nothing that has happened to mine has been anything that prevented me using it safely.

The My Porsche app is another matter. It has been fine for several months now, but I have had it just stop connecting to the car, sometimes for 2-3 days. The dealership (If they are right) has said that there are periodic software updates to the app, and sometimes it leaves the user out to dry until it gets settled again.

I love my car and think you will too.

1) is a current known issue. No fix from Porsche yet. Allegedly "June" but no official word.

Don't expect this to be fixed properly any time soon. I use Android Auto instead when reliable nav is needed. Some have had joy disabling the Porsche charging bit in the PCM (made no solid difference on mine). As per the above, the other thread covers.

2) sounds like poor prep to me. Dirt in the system or water maybe. (I have an ST so no similar spoiler). I would insist they fix this. Tell them you want a loan car as I can't see this being done in a day.

3) what was the screen showing? Possibly related to (1). Though mine is sometimes noticeably slower selecting tracks etc than the main display. And you can't use Android Auto etc on it 😕

4) as per (2).

5) if it was working OK then a bit weird. But I wonder if something has happened when change of ownership records have all sync'd up....have you tried deleting your user account from the car and redoing it. I have some recollection of having to do this when I bought mine.

That said, the app can sometimes lose connection.

The cars are brilliant. Porsche's attitude too often sucks

Almost a relief to hear it’s a known issue—although you’d think if it’s that common, Porsche would be all over it by now.

It was originally booked in just for the nav issue, but I’ve since emailed them with the additional faults and haven’t had any response or acknowledgement yet… maybe that’s the Porsche “attitude” you mentioned.

On the spoiler, I thought the same—possibly something obstructing a sensor or mechanism. I gave it a clean underneath but no change, so looks like it’ll need proper investigation.

The passenger screen issue is odd—it sometimes just sits on the Taycan logo and doesn’t respond at all. On one occasion it froze on a PCM page. A two-finger reset brings it back, but I’m definitely doing that more often than I should be.

I’ll try deleting my user account and setting it up again this afternoon to see if that sorts the app/sync issue.

Appreciate the input—really helpful.

The "app not updating" syndrome I assumed was just crappy software that will never be fixed. Mine looses contact with the mothership after a couple of days and will never update until I turn the vehicle on. Presumably there's some session persistence bug.

Passenger screen - am assuming there's someone sat in the passenger seat?

The Taycan logo is all you get when there isn't....

(I've never managed to make the two finger salute work on either screen... Possibly too fat fingers!).
