Center Console Lid doesn't stay open at 90 degrees BUT it did in a 2026

Hi,


1. My 2025 center console lid will open up to 90 degrees when I lift it.
2. When I let go it falls to 45 degrees.
3. ChatGPT says "that does not sound right." Ha Ha
4. Advisor and I went to a 2026 and it stayed open. So maybe they fixed this.

Yes, I noticed that as well when I watched a video of a Taycan whose console lid DID stay up & I was jealous/angry (jangry?). My '25 doesn't either & I find it annoying. My Porsche salesman basically just said "That's how it is."
Did your advisor off to replace or look into it?

No. When we went to the 2026 and it stayed open he did add it to the "to do" list but then called and said "Must have been rectified in 2026 but technician says yours is the normal."
Didn't offer any retrofit solution.

I only created this post so that the next "new" taycan owner can easily see that the "lid doesn't fully stay open" until 2026 and is their design and not a repair item. It took me 20-30 minutes to search "lid" on this forum and still had to infer that the 1/2 close flopping was normal.

My 2025 stays open, but not at 90 degrees. Maybe 80. But it doesn't fight your hand like the J1 did.

Had to check my 2025 and it has two spots it stays open: ~30 degrees and ~80 degrees (as @DerekS mentioned)

Ha! Wish I had a protractor! Mine falls to 45 or less. To the point you can't see into the compartment.
