Thanks for all the useful feedback.
One problem with the GTS is that it isn't possible to specify Active Ride without the Dynamic Package. Yes, the latter might be what I need to get the ultra-crisp steering, but it also compromises the low-speed ride I.M.H.O.
Here's my corresponding GTS...
But would I then lose the wonderful steering precision and feel? That was one of the standout features of my test drive - still not clear if this was the 21” Summer Performance tyres at work or some specific GTS steering calibration.
Yes, I was driving in "Normal" mode when I observed that the ride wasn't quite as smooth as I would have liked (I also tried Sport and Sport Plus of course: great fun on winding country roads - whilst dodging potholes).
Again, the big question is whether Active Ride has any effect on fine-scale...
As the OP I just wanted to clarify that my question was primarily about the Gen-2 GTS: specifically whether choosing a GTS without Active Ride would feel firmer (rougher) at low speeds.
I felt that the GTS with Active Ride was on the edge of what I’d consider acceptable as a daily driver on...
I guess one might argue that less weight over the front end is a good thing - as is the purity of RWD. Some critics certainly seem to prefer the RWD model… and the Gen-2 car is much faster than Gen 1.
I haven’t had a chance to drive either though, but did really enjoy my 2 hours in the RWD...
Thanks for all the helpful feedback. I shall have to try another dealer and be prepared for making a day or weekend out if it. I guess it all adds to the fun - though I really want to use my local roads as reference (*)
And yes, it does take a while to assess a car - particularly when there are...
Thanks for the advice - in the UK there really isn't much price difference between a fully-specced 4S and a fully-specced RWD (which seems weird to me). I just thought that with the RWD I would get a lighter car with better range and a nicer "feel" to the driving experience.
(I was underwhelmed...
Really-useful feedback, thanks!
Slightly off-topic, but if I were to buy the RWD model, would you recommend RWS, or would this spoil the unique RWD experience?
I recently took a test drive in a Gen-2 GTS equipped with Porsche Active Ride (PAR). Whilst this was great fun, I did find that in “Normal” mode the ride was a little on the “firm” side: even slightly rough around town; it wasn’t as smooth or serene as a 4S on the same route.
I'm curious as to...
Is there something special about the steering setup in the GTS models?
I recently took a test drive in a Gen-2 GTS with “Active Ride” and was particularly impressed by the steering feel. This felt much more direct than the steering in a J1 4S - on the exact same test route, on the same day. It...
I am a new forum member, looking to buy my first Porsche. I'm an EV veteran - three Teslas since 2014 - and looking for a more engaging driver's car, albeit with decent range. But I'm frustrated by my local dealers!
- I nearly bought a brand-new GTS last year, but the dealer only gave me a...
