  1. Electrical System Fault + 12V?

Very true. Sonos app being a prime example of ruining a good product with app updates. I am sure lots of software updates are just ways to try and monetise things going forward. It leaves you wondering who owns the item. You pay for it, but the manufacturer still has some control over it...
  2. The Chinese Xiaomi SU7, which mimics Porsche’s Taycan.

Agree with the posts above. Having thought at length about the sad state of things (compared to when I was young) it all eventually comes back to one thing: There are way too many humans now. The use of the earths resources and pollution/waste is ever incressing. The effect on nature is so...
  3. Does Taycan Turbo S have 500 times limit of launch control use?

It looks like it's just not something people have been that concerned about during the 4+ years since the last post.
  4. The Chinese Xiaomi SU7, which mimics Porsche’s Taycan.

To be honest, I think the race may already be lost..... The Chinese have a lot of Aces up their sleeves with labour costs, raw materials, battery technology, Govt support, rapid development etc. If products are currently close to par, but one party has huge momentum and the other very little...
  5. Porsche Problems in China

Interestingly, i noted 4 separate news stories regarding Chinese EV companies on my news feed (financial) this morning. I am neutrasl on all this, but I think a lot of people are really underestimating the speed of change and the scale of their ambitions. Not looked in depth at these stories...
  6. Best resale Colour and specs

Oh no! What a nightmare...... I am going to have to find a new supplier now. ?
  7. Have you named your Taycan?

A few times I was very slowly moving away from the drive at home and startled the neighbour with its near silent crawl, especially compared to my previous BMW M2. He mentioned it to me and the name 'The Silent Assassin' sprung to mind and stuck.
  8. Have you named your Taycan?

Not any more....... Its whatever gender it was when it popped out of the factory gates. ?
  9. Have you named your Taycan?

Wilfred Jason Sidebottom (OBE). Actually that's a lie. ?
  10. Best resale Colour and specs

I remember when everyone went silver. I think it was Mercedes that started it. Then a few years later, white became fashionable (if a car had black contrasting trim parts). I remember seeing a Lambo and an Audi R8 and in this combo and thinking they looked stunning. Dark grey seems to have...
  11. Best resale Colour and specs

I like to see what's the longest number of monochrome cars all parked in a single row on a car park. I once counted about 20 before a single colour interrupted it.
  12. A simple reason why Porsche is in serious long-term trouble

Well the dealer never told me I was a beta tester when I bought my car. I doubt most people who bought a Taycan were happy in the knowledge it would suffer so many recalls and reliability issues and subsequently plunge in value. Or was that just me? And I must have misunderstood the news...
  13. New Firmware updates for the control units of the Tacan

It's compulsory ISA legislation in EU and UK since July 2024. It uses cameras that recognise speed limit signs, as well as data from GPS and sat-nav systems, to determine the speed limit on any given stretch of road. If the car breaks that limit, a beep or other warning - such as a ‘haptic’...
  14. A simple reason why Porsche is in serious long-term trouble

My Taycan was my first Porsche. It wasn't the experience I was hoping for. It spent more time in the shop then every other car I've owned combined (in over 40 years). And in the UK, i personally found the frequent dealership visits for a 'premium brand' to be really poor. Worse than I have...
  15. Brake problems in the Rain

Dont trust the dealer. You need to drive another Taycan owners car (and vice versa) in the rain to compare. Maybe reach out here, and see if there is anyone local to you?
  16. Best resale Colour and specs

I often like it when people disagree with my choices in life..... Personally, if I don't like someone else's choices, I tend to keep it to myself as it's really none on my business. So when people feel a need to spout out about why they don't like my x/y/z - I just think 'great, if an...
  17. CAN SMALL ANIMALS ACCESS TAYCAN WIRING?

Not sure where I saw it (maybe here?) but there was some kind of mesh to park each wheel on, that animals don't like walking on. Not really something we have much of an issue with in the UK afaik.
  18. I think they got excited over initial Taycan sales and got ahead of themselves.

Speaking of development.... What's going on with Tesla nowasays? They don't seem to be doing anything apart from that big daft truck. Has Elon lost all interest in cars and it's grinding to a halt? I have also noticed that the Tesla Fanboys seem to have disappeared and been replaced with a...
  19. Pencil stuck under seat runner between seat and console

I lost a few bits down there over the years, including coins. After trying various things, I found some extra long cable ties (about 1m long) in the garage. They are perfect. Was able to push it down from the top and then slide it underneath and along from the rear bottom (sounds like a p0rno)
  20. Getting out of pcp due to consistent faults?

More info here...... https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/car-finance-voluntary-termination-pcp-hp/ Under PCP, I imagine the 50% may be an issue, as it includes any final/balloon payment (depending how OP has set it up). Another reason why I think dealers are so keen to push PCP (or were before the...
