  1. Should Cyclist's help the economy and pay road tax and have insurance

I was just thinking from a UK perspective. AI response to the question.....
  2. Should Cyclist's help the economy and pay road tax and have insurance

My 2p.... A lot of kids ride or own bikes. If the tax is on the bike 'owner' people will just buy bikes for their kids. And I don't think minors can enter legally binding contracts anyway, like owning or taxing a car. So it would have to be a tax on bike usage on public roads. And as...
  3. Purchased Yesterday, Now Noticed scratches/holes under the car

I was thinking about this.... I would be at a Porsche centre first thing Monday morning to ask for a quick visual and ask about the battery warranty - given the level of damage. If there is even the slightest possibility of any issue, I would then return it to the seller by Monday afternoon...
  4. AC Charging issue/question

No, it's standard UK RHD. Either side will charge AC, but only passenger side for DC. The DC charging flap just stays closed.
  5. Purchased Yesterday, Now Noticed scratches/holes under the car

Firstly, make sure the battery tray is not damaged. Even small dents (3mm) is the margin for major costs in certain places of the battery cover. Look at this thread...
  6. AC Charging issue/question

I had forgotten about this one, which is vaguely on topic..... My car has the 11kw charger, but it repeatedly failed to charge on the drivers side only. Red error after plugging in. I usually charge on the passenger side (home) and barely ever use DC charging, so it wasn't too big an issue...
  7. Would you buy a Taycan again?

I will look around next year, see what's available. I will stick with an EV, but would prefer something smaller than a Taycan. Don't need a family car. I wish BMW made an EV version of the M2.
  8. Would you buy a Taycan again?

Different angle but same outcome for me. My first Porsche. I was expecting a much better ownership experience. But it's actually been worse than any other car I've owned. Will be glad to get away from Porsche and will not be getting another.
  9. My dealer is trying to charge me £480 to 'investigate a fault code'.

Two vaguely related things from me. Good: I had a rear door handle that wouldn't retract and was replaced under warranty. Bad: My car went in for about a week for a brake failure. Flatbed in.....loads of hassle for me, crap loan car. At which time they also did the brake hose recall (FOC)...
  10. Best car to boost your dating profile: Porsche Taycan - Study

I think mine must be faulty then..... I will have to take it into the dealers to see if the 'beaver surround view' has stopped working, or if it was never fitted.
  11. Advice on buying a used Taycan outside of Porsche Warranty

Good post - well put. Especially the first bit about transfer of warranty. Tbh I would go nowhere near a dealer that says a car has a manufacturers warranty when it doesn't. Also to OP...... Ask the dealer what the outstanding recalls are. When they could get the car booked in (there a huge...
  12. Advice on buying a used Taycan outside of Porsche Warranty

I have got a 21 plate RWD Taycan from new. I extended the warranty after 3 years. Having lived with the car (and I look after my cars and have only done 20k miles) there is no way I would want it without a Porsche warranty. Why not look at a 4S? Taycans are fast - and I never even get to...
  13. Ho to set up charging profile with Octopus Intelligent Go?

I thought you could only do this for so long (not using the nominated car as IO intended) before Octopus cancel the IO contract?
  14. Top Auto Brands in World in EV Sales - 2024 YTD

Surprised (in a good way) that BMW are 3rd.
  15. Can we have some more battery threads please 😁

I'll only be happy when there's a different battery thread for every day of the month. A bit like a 'Taycan battery advent calendar' with an exciting new thread to open each day. ?
  16. Ingenious -- or crazy? -- idea to fit Taycan into garage

The way the garage door is set up, it looks like it rolls inside the door resess. Could you put a temporary (as its rental property) door on the outside, to add the extra length? Something similar to pic? Leave the existing door in the open position. Update: They are called Side Hinged garage...
  17. UK tyre replacements - fitting new ones

We have a very well respected tyre shop near us - they have been supporting motor racing for decades. They are on the Black Circles panel now. Used them when I changed all 4 last year (N rated). Really good....better than taking it to OPC. Much cheaper.
  18. Large differences in labour rates in Uk OPCs

In the early posts on the UK service cost thread, the price difference across dealerships was huge - for the same work. They appear to have levelled off a bit now. And you need to factor in whether it includes the drain checks.
  19. Complete brake failure !!

It's why I said dry tarmac. And the red PCM warning - Park safely wouldn't be triggered with Abs just doing it's thing. Tyres new.... Warm summer day. Nothing slippery. It was some kind of fault.
  20. Complete brake failure !!

I've not noticed any of those things. My brakes have been good apart from the one issue. RWD / Std brakes.
