Charging: no problem, preheat and charge as usual. But it wasn't an extreme winter as you might get in the Nordics or Canada.
Range: I simply never look at the range guess-o-meter. There is no point. The Taycan has plenty of range for European touring and I just don't give it a second...
The OPC supplied Pirelli P Zero Winter, which are 3PMSF rated. They are rated for 240 km/h which was a comfortable margin above my speed almost all the time (although I might have exceeded that briefly on one very straight, clear part of the journey). Bear in mind that I only went at speed on...
Just back from a winter trip from the UK to the Black Forest (southern Germany). What a stunning place in winter; even more so in a Taycan Turbo Sport Turismo.
The journey was brilliant -- the car took every corner, fast straight, and steep hill with absolute ease. This really is an amazing...
Thanks for this - v interesting, nicely presented.
(Sadly it turns out that there is a 2-month gap in my data from Porsche - it looks as though when comms to the car fail, the Porsche service makes no attempt to buffer and catch up retrospectively.)
I think the OTA update is for the high voltage battery not the 12v.
however there is an update relating to the 12v battery’s management system, done by the OPC. Search the forum for info. Have you had that one done?
Also, I was amused to see that when you flip on ALK/Innodrive on the Autobahn the default speed is a nice comfortable 209 km/h (130 mph) :).
A lot friendlier than our Tesla which puts you in the penalty box (automation disabled until you park) if you dare to go over 90mph with autopilot engaged …
Oops, exceeded the specified max speed today.
Got a nice long straight piece of autobahn in good visibility, low traffic, good weather. So pushed a bit. My J1.2 Turbo Sport Turismo just got faster and faster, with no sense that it was running out of power or control. I stopped at 265 km/h...
The Porsche price lists are available in the app and also here:
https://ask.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/charging-service-price-list/
Most newer purchasers are on Charging Service Plus which is 39p/kWh at Ionity, Porsche, and a few selected networks in Europe, 59p/kWh on non-preferred DC chargers.
I've had this on a few occasions too, and it cleared on restart. I think it is because the camera got momentarily confused - a bit of road salt or low light or something - and could not provide reliable detection. If you see it a lot I'd ask the OPC in case it is something worse.
Those who live in proper winter climates will correct me, but I think snow socks are designed as a compromise for not having proper winter tyres. It's an imperfect temporary alternative to having 3PMSF (three peaks logo - mountain/snow/frost) rated tyres. And in some parts of Europe 3PMSF...
I was told that The update addresses a problem that under some conditions the 12V battery may incorrectly report its charge status, leading to it going flat if not driven for a long period.
Brrr :)
On cold days, salty roads or just low light I do get various sensor warnings ranging from that one to the full-blown series of everything at once. However it always leave us guessing as to which sensorto clean. Which sensor (in a less extreme case than the photo :-) ) does everyone...
A good trip report that I hope will encourage others to forget worrying about range and just get out on those wonderful French autoroutes (which by the way are even better with ALC/Innodrive taking some of the load).
But may I make a strong recommendation for any newcomers reading this. DC...
OK so it seems what they are probably doing is:
- pour water in the four corners of roof and bottom corners of windscreen
- visually check the six bungs in the battery drain
Anything else for my £68?
