That’s a totally fair position to take. However you would have to agree that this isn’t accidental, it was a design decision and a compound benefit of doing it “could” be the cells are constantly on the move.
Every system design decision will have trade offs. I’m just not willing to accept that...
I’d argue this is by design rather than a system quirk. The Tesla BMS is constantly working to ensure peak individual cell performance. That means cycling charge through and balancing continually. I actually find it strange that Porsche doesn’t take this approach. Even the best electric power...
I’m a fully loaded 2020 Taycan Turbo owner that is getting a Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance delivered in two months. After 23000kms these are the reasons why I’m trading the Taycan in:
* Range
* Software
* Straight line performance (1050 bhp), I’ve realized that even with the amazing...
Yup, same here. Takes about an hour or so and the phone (iPhone 12 Pro) over temps and shuts down. I bought this super short USB-C to Lightening Cable for the console, seems better - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07WVXGFCJ?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_0WGF30EHY9F2VNBH99S8
+1 on experiencing all of these issues with a 2020 Taycan Turbo. The in-built navigation has become really bothersome without ”send to vehicle“ and the removal of Google Search integration in the Nav.
Sounds like this was a pure cost cutting exercise from Porsche’s point of view. It’s just...
Really great rationale. Here’s my 2020 Taycan Turbo config. http://www.porsche-code.com/PNZEBR27
Basically everything you said but I opted for the Turbo optioned over the Turbo S as a balance of range and performance.
Probably, I’d say the Taycan is about driving dynamics (as long as it’s well optioned up). The bugs/quirks alone may make you miss MB.
You may want to test drive the Lucid Air GT. It’s meant to be a good blend between S-Class and the Taycan.
I think it’s a new glitch for the pile, I’ve done a full reset as after my CONBOX (Comms Module) replacement I had an intermittent error that would complain about SOS not functioning. That was resolved by a full PCM reset but alas this didn’t help the failing cameras. The cameras are bad...
Yeah, I think It’s a software issue given there’s a few people now calling it out. My PPF was done long enough ago that it wouldn’t be causing the issue (2020 Taycan Turbo).
The car does have PPF but that was added a long time ago and the intermittent cameras have only been since the last dealer visit for a software update — not sure but others are experiencing this issue. Apparently if one camera starts going bad intermittently then the whole system can go off.
Hi,
There’s a number of people reporting issues on Reddit about this. My cameras have been intermittently going offline and I’m wondering if this is a software issue or hardware. I’ve got the car booked in at the dealer to repair but thought I’d ask here.
Do all of your other connectivity features work in the car? Bluetooth, Apple Music, Online voice recognition?
My Communications Module crapped out and I lost all of this. It needed to be replaced at the dealers, took a day for them to resolve as the parts were in stock.
I’ve got a 2020 Taycan Turbo with 20k kms on it. It started intermittently with the issues you are saying then got worse. Others have mentioned it here but the Communications Module needed to be replaced and it seems to have restored this to their original levels of flaky. Not great for the...
Just adding my name to the list of people that had to have the Communications Module replaced (2020 Taycan Turbo - 20k kms) in the last couple of weeks. It was on the shelf at our dealer so it must be common enough. Interesting that there’s a long term software fix in the works for the problem.
This just happened to me. Same symptoms, looks to be the stated Comms Module. 2020 Taycan Turbo with 20k kms and a daily driver.
Getting it looked at in a week. I’ll post an update. Seems quite common though!
If those teams were more integrated little things like the Taycan preferring battery power to pre condition the cabin wouldn’t happen. There’s probably two or more different teams in that mix and the logic doesn’t translate. If the car is plugged in no matter wether it is charging or not it...
EDIT: Looking around I’m guessing they didn’t want the headline “Car Jacking in broad daylight at the Devonshire Mall”! More likely that she was there than emergency charging at Chevrolet Cadillac.
Odd place to be charging, I can only see this public charger in that area:
Premier Chevrolet...
Like everyone else here I'll be livid if they don't continue to push updates to fix the core functionality of PCM to MY20 onwards.
However I read the official statements a bit different to some. To me it read as zero commitment to add new functionality to older models. This is to be expected...
