I have a Taycan 4 CT. The only advice I have-since you are coming from a LR-is these are really LOW. Get used to hitting the “gravel” button because otherwise you’ll be rubbing the chin of that all over town!
Otherwise, enjoy. Really a fun to drive car.
I only see a bar when I use “Timer”. I find it easier to use a profile, mine is set at 85%. Unless I change a setting, when I plug in to my L2 charger, it just charges to 85% and stops. No line.
Yes, I agree it isn’t intuitive.
You have to set your own priorities. Between those two, Taycan for pure handling, Macan gives up “some” handling but adds comfort and better usability. I had a Macan S and later a GTS.
If you tell the leasing company you want a payoff amount, it is similar to restarting the negotiation.
Under the lease contract you have a firm residual, but it isn’t necessarily a linear progression, meaning if you were halfway to the end of your lease the payoff they quote will likely be less...
To start, I love my Taycan, but the market is terrible.
According to CarEdge, Taycan is #6 worst selling car in US in March 2025 with a 229 day supply.
To me, anyone who cannot negotiate a hefty discount isn’t a savvy buyer.
That is Jaguar territory, highly not normal.
I leased a Taycan in Jan 2024. While commenting to the F&I guy that getting a $22,000 discount from list was what motivated me to get it, he replied “We can’t give EV’s away”. The residual was 50% for 36 mos.
When I mentioned that, he said if I...
I have ‘24 CT. Have had zero problems with 12V, but did have a rattle in rear from day one. There was a tsb for a rear latch problem. I think they actually modified the latch to a new design. Once replaced, no more rattles.
What is worth what is for you to decide.
But the residual isn’t set in stone. Sure, you can buy it for that, but that number was predicted by Porsche back when the lease began, and in the meantime the market for Taycan tanked.
If you like it enough to buy it at the right price…Before your...
Why not convert to hardwire? That pigtail on the ChargePoint can be removed with three lever clicks, it is probably toast anyway, then run power right onto those same connectors. Done.
Using a plug is just not optimal.
I side stepped all of this and installed a hardwired charger on a 50 amp breaker. The charger that came with the car has never been used.
As you do your research you will find some people who have had heat issues with the plugs (such as 14-50, one example). Not saying it isn’t viable, I just...
Regarding the 30 minute limit (for free) on EA changing, according to my dealer there is a 15 minute grace period, so they won’t ding your CC until you hit 45 minutes.
I cannot confirm that with personal experience, however 45 minutes on a L3 charger is a heck of a long time, normally beyond...
I use it all the time. Setting charging level, preconditioning the interior temps, checking charge level.
The available technology on these cars is huge. Why get an EV and go old school on everything?
I have 2 years on the lease, so it will be a decision to make at that time, but I am not likely to get another EV. Not that I wouldn't buy one again, just that I think living on the east coast USA, the public charging is too spotty.
There are things I really like about this car, it is a great...
I have the passenger display, and it allows that person to mess around with various things without affecting what I see on the main PCM-notably Waze and any warnings that may be there. I love the extra display.
