I have a Taycan 4 CT. The only advice I have-since you are coming from a LR-is these are really LOW. Get used to hitting the “gravel” button because otherwise you’ll be rubbing the chin of that all over town!

Otherwise, enjoy. Really a fun to drive car.

Yes, this will be a slight adjustment. I drive wife's model Y allot too so should get use to it faster hopefully.

Just wanted to post a quick pic. My first Porsche so much to learn here.

Really excited. Still not sure about the color but it's growing on me.

At 49 you can say it's my middle age crisis:)

Dealer getting the car ready so should be in my garage in a few days.

I loved my Range Rover LWB. Hopefully this one will be good to me too.

What would you do to this car as a new owner? I know it has PPF already.

I think it looks great. Also a newbie, and of a similar age... hrmmm.... :)

I've only had mine for like a month. For me it's learning the quirks. We're a two driver/shared car household, and switching back and forth hasn't been seamless. It's not hard, but sometimes takes a few clicks to get the right profile/bluetooth. I use CarPlay, which sometimes lags on connecting, so I put in the time to get to know the PCM and get a decent non-CarPlay setup as a backup (one key there is there is a 2nd Home Screen, if you hit home twice, and getting the 3 widgets you like best there is nice).

I also scouted on things like how I'll deal with future service/repair work, which in my area is extremely limited (Pittsburgh). I didn't do PPF, or get the tire/wheel protection. We'll see if that's a mistake or not.

It's not my first EV, so I already had a good setup at home. If you don't, obviously that will be a thing.

Mostly I just enjoy driving it, even if it's just local city driving. Enjoy!

Hi, I am planning to purchase a Taycan and I live in Pittsburgh too. Do you mind if I send you a direct message to ask a few questions about your experience so far?

Very strange coincidence. I'm also mid life (53), just got my first Porsche, and moved from a Range Rover Velar. I got my Taycan in October 2024 and have been in love ever since. Congrats on the Kermit green. It's gorgeous!!!!!
Great color!!! Here as well. Again "strange coincidence." I'm as well in the mid life era (54). My first Porsche also.. Just got my Taycan April 2025. Still getting used to it. Love it!

Different people have different priorities. What would your goals for the upgrades be? Do you prefer functional upgrades, or esthetic upgrades, what's your budget, how far are you willing to modify your car, do you want to to make the car stand out or make it blend in, etc.. Off the top of my head (from what I've seen people do to their Taycans):
  1. different color hood ornament (green to blend, purple for contrast?)
  2. clear side markers
  3. custom front lip
  4. carbon fiber vent covers
  5. add custom license frame mounts (front and/or back)
  6. paint rear spoiler to match the car
  7. paint your wheel arches to match the car
  8. remove wheel arches completely for the ST look
  9. swap in euro tail lights (amber blinkers)
  10. mod your matrix headlights to work as they do in the rest of the world (disabled in US)
  11. tune your car to have way more power than stock, launch mode torque any time
  12. add built in radar/laser countermeasures (radar detectors, laser detectors + jammers)
  13. get different wheels, paint them to whatever you like
  14. add dashcams (front and back)
  15. add a bike rack on the back
  16. add decals to the car (racing stripes, PORSCHE or TAYCAN or ELECTRIC decals)
  17. paint your brake calipers
  18. add lighted (even personalized) door sills
  19. add personalized floor mats, or just different floor mats
  20. get your key fobs color matched to your car
  21. add sport chrono if the doesn't have it
  22. upgrade your onboard charger to 19.2kW if your car came with 11kW
  23. change the color of PORSCHE logo in the tail lights
  24. get lighted PORSCHE logo in the tail lights
  25. retrofit heated steering wheel, if your car didn't come with it
  26. wrap a car in more standout color (speed yellow, acid green)
  27. add more powerful phone charger and/or mount
  28. code settings not available in the user menus (e.g. Scandinavian DRL, where you tail lights always go on together with your front DRL's)
  29. get separate set of winter vs. summer tires (even a third all-season set might be helpful in some climates, plug it provides you with a universal set of spares)
  30. swap out for a different steering wheel (leather or race-tex or carbon fiber)
  31. get a compact mobile charger with a complete set of adapters for road tripping (depending on your needs/plans
There are even things you can do with a Taycan. As I said before, it depends on your goals and preferences, your budget, and level of comfort modifying your car. The one I would start with, get a proper EVSE installed in your garage for nightly charging. I would strongly recommend getting a hardwired one, the Porsche PMC+ or PMCC are really poor EVSEs, even if you have had all the recalls done to them.

@PhillyTCT4S, so you've had your car for close to a couple of months now, what upgrades have you done so far?

Congrats! I have frozen berry and I love it. It is a fun car to drive
I absolutely love it. It is at the dealer for a pretty significant issue. Unfortunately, I have told myself one more big one and I will be trading my favorite car ever. 😢
