I think the Stinger also defeats the Dragon Eye (in fact, I'm sure of it), and they're supposedly about to release a new antenna that greatly improves its Radar performance.
The Stinger "heads" are also super tiny; way better looking.
The Matrix lights are just so cool and it's so disappointing that we can't get them in the US. I'd love the hear the argument as to why they're not better than the regulatory standard.
The folks at AVI Boston do a "magnetic" front plate mount. No visible external attachments, strong magnets, not cheap (since you have to remove the front bumper to install the magnets, but if you're getting an integrated radar detector, that has to be done anyway). So you can pop the plate on...
I think we've all done this at one time or another (it usually flips closed on its own, except when it doesn't). But these problems started with the AC-only port, which doesn't have a port door and couldn't have been blocked.
Today was rather interesting, because I opened the AC/DC door first...
In fact, I have taken it to the dealer a number of times. The port cover assembly was replaced, but the issue wasn't resolved, and the other side is now acting up. Wanted to see if there were any similar cases here, given the difficulty involved diagnosing the issue.
I've been having a problem with the driver's side (AC-only) port on my Taycan. Prior to the latest software, it basically would refuse to open. But since the new software install, it actually flags the error as an "impaired port". It eventually clears up on its own, and then works for a while...
I'm certain this is right; the other VW group cars that clearly use the same "car computer" (like the ID.3 and ID.4) support Android Auto.
Whether it will be made available on older cars...we can hope, but I think it's probably unlikely.
This is key - as indicated in the guide, you definitely need to loosen the bolts that hold the crosspiece to the mount uprights, or it won't fit properly. Once you've got it sized and dimensioned, you can tighten them up and it'll be fine for the future.
It's quite clear that the 2020s also use Verizon (you can see that in the status dialog), although it doesn't display the IMEI, so you can't just call Verizon and activate the hotspot.
The Hotspot is clearly listed in the WiFi options, so it's obviously intended to work, but I, like you, don't...
I switched from a Tesla P85 (2013) to a Taycan. My Tesla didn't have any autodrive stuff. It didn't even have park distance sensors. Early Teslas were quite different, even though the chassis was the same.
One "regret" I have is that there aren't more chargers at the start of my Taycan...
So, having spent a day with the new update, I think they've made a ton of changes here. A lot of it is subtle (better and faster animations, more responsive to touch, suggested content, proper CarPlay tile in the Home screen and binnacle) and a lot is purely visual (proper car status picture...
Although, interestingly, the VW Group has licensed Android Auto for the ID series... and Porsche sells an upgrade radio with Android Auto in it. So who knows - as the other post says, depends on what customers do. I don't think the data sharing thing is the big blocker.
I'll tell you one issue...
Over the more than 7 years I owned my Tesla Model S, my battery capacity barely dropped, and cell balance was still near perfect across all the battery modules. I'm not really worried about pack degradation with the Taycan.
Of course, as others have said, the tech marches ahead. But battery...
