I just received the recall letter today. It is of course in French, so I felt it easier to do a translation via Google translate.
All the text was similar to what has been known and shared here previously, apart from the info that my car needs to be checked every 60 days. And of course the SW...
I wish I could share some of it.
But my car was one of the first Turbo here in France. Love driving the car, if and when it will be ok and willing to drive, but it starts to wear me out with the frequent visits to the workshop.
I just today received the recall for the Battery ARB6 as well...
In my use case of using the Taycan nearly exclusively for long distance road tripping, the extended warranty has been invaluable and so worth it! I have suffered one major breakdown (red circle ) and two smaller warranty repairs, but with tow necessary, in countries thousands of miles from home...
You Should not need to set anything for such high power DC charging. Enabling Direct charging is only for AC charging.
Think about people parking their cars and plugging in at. 350 kW charger and then schedule a Charge in the middle of the night. I believe there would be a riot!
Could very well be linked to ratings.
Can understand it would not be optimal timing perhaps. You may switch it on too late! But too early would not be so huge problem since I guess the system shuts down once the optimal temperature is reached.
It would certainly help out in the wilderness in...
It has been quite useful when there has been chargers around me when no Ionity stations where anywhere near. And I would not have reached them. In cold wether in northern Sweden it was very valuable since there were HPC but none covered by BMW charging.
Can agree that one might not time it...
It is not cold enough here where I live at the moment to try this. I looked at CarScanner yesterday while navigating to an Ionity station. The current drawn by the PTC heater was 12 to 12.75 A. Guess the heater is wired directly to the 800 volt battery to avoid conversion losses. Inlet water...
There is no technical reason why you could not have such a ”button”. That is available and works great in the BMW EV’s.
when I asked one of the Porsche Geniuses(?) in 2020, the answer from Porsche was that that was not allowed. It was a security risk? Guess it was totally made up answer.
Or...
I have seen very similar behaviour last year in Norway. Minus 25 C in snow storm and car was plugged in, preheating and charging with timers. And it was on a three phase 11 kW connection, car limiting factor as EVSE. Old provide up to 22 kW. It raised the temperature in the battery for sure and...
Well that was the most peculiar car review and comparison that I have seen for a very long time. To compare a Sport inspired wagon to a off road vehicle, is not something I would have dreamed of? ??
A G wagon would never have come up in my dream car list, unless I would live somewhere up North...
Yes the ownership of the first Taycans from Porsche has certainly been a very terrible experience. I have not dared to add up how many weeks my car has been at the dealership for all the various faults, issues and recalls, but over the the 4.5 years, it has been spent a long time at workshops in...
