Well Tesla has done updates to magically unlock faster 0-60 times as well as adjust regenerative braking performance, so I think they do have the capability if necessary. They've also pushed out updates to increase range which may or may not be related to motor performance.
Were you in the same drive mode? I've noticed the sport sound to be more pronounced when in Sport mode in my RWD as opposed to Normal (I don't have Sport Plus).
What I'm doing for now is I activate Homelink before I start backing up. Then, iirc, once I switch into reverse, the backup camera feed overlays on top of the Homelink menu. Then, once I've reached a medium speed in the forward direction, the backup camera goes away and the Homelink menu...
It certainly is, and that's how I started out. I've since switched to using the PCM because I prefer using those 2 buttons for higher priority things (in my case Next Track, toggle Sport Sound) and in turn just accepting the slightly less convenient PCM-based way.
It's likely because Tesla developed their cars with a software focus from the beginning, whereas all the other traditional car manufacturers like Porsche are trying to add on OTA update functionality to what they already know how to do, which is build cars.
In Tesla's case this in turn...
I was enjoying reading this, eagerly anticipating your evolution into a full throttle driver ripping around corners in your new Taycan. And then I got to this:
:D You can do it!
Yup, no idea why its implemented this way, but it's stupid. You also can't do a full long press or else it thinks you're trying to do something else (delete the entry? I forget) so you really have to hold it somewhere between a tap and 2 seconds. I usually do about 1 second, sort of like tapping...
I'm leasing a 98k RWD at .002 MF with a payment of about $1680 with minimum down, 10k miles. So yeah, that dealer has terrible rates. Took delivery 1 month ago.
What did they do to get your FoD fixed? I finally tried activated the ALK free trial and to my surprise, it worked a couple days later. My car is parked in a garage with little to no cell signal so it took a couple drives out and about before it was able to get the ALK update.
I parked my car...
It does not automatically open the door based on location like Tesla does. It can, however, bring up the Homelink menu (with buttons to activate the open function) based on location. This is unfortunately the best you can do currently.
As for the efficacy of the Homelink transmitter itself, the...
Yes, you do get some sound both internally and externally if you dont have sport sound, but having the option just makes both louder and more noticeable.
My friends were standing about 6 feet away so if they were hearing the sound from inside the cabin, the end result is still the same, it...
I have noticed a semi violent hitch sometimes at medium speeds when accelerating. I'm not sure what causes it as it is rare, but it is definitely enough to make me and my passenger's bodies flinch forward.
I try to drive with auto regen on but as I have to turn it on every drive, sometimes I...
From your linked article:
" The Porsche Electric Sport Sound makes the vehicle's own drive sound even more emotionally charged and richer with its innovative character both on the outside and inside. "
This is also confirmed by friends who said the idle "rumble" is louder and more noticeable...
Having just come from the 2018 Model S, this is honestly quite accurate. Tesla is quite good at the software and the EV technology side of things because they've had years to develop it. Porsche is way better at the driving side of things because they've had decades to develop it.
I'm glad I'm...
It's fine. Leaving it at 100% a few times won't have any tangible effect on battery degradation. Just don't make it a regular habit. It's not like if you leave it at 100% for 12 hours your battery suddenly loses capacity.
