As it stands now, when my lease is up in 15 months this will be my last Taycan. I am going back to the some 911 variant. My reasons are not what one would expect. For me its simply drivability on the horrific roads in the NY metro area. It simply is not workable once the potholes appear. If I...
I don't think that's quite right based on my history with PAG class action settlements. I am referring to the dieselgate and emission tampering. I got north of $2k on the three 911's I owned during the relevant period. While its not time to retire, it isn't pennies.
Yes, PAG is Porsche AG.
It seems that your remedy service center is somewhat compromised. My PCCC can rebuild a car better than than the factory. I am at a loss to guide you other than to say, continue to reject until they restore the vehicle to pre-incident specifications.
Here is my thinking. I have owned a MY21 RWD and now own a 24MY4S. I have a cumulative 5 year ownership experience.
Other than the tech deficiencies, which we all know and love - if the recalls are complied with, I don't see much downside to holding until the battery warranty is about to go...
Here is what I would do:
Reject on visual inspection.
When they balk, demand that the PAG tolerance spec's be supplied to you or an independent 3rd party shop.
I have been dealing with PCCC's for many years, including my fair share of track mishaps. I have never seen a PCCC produce such...
The best of my knowledge, PAG only provides these to authorized Porsche Certified Collision Centers. I had a minor side swipe last year ($27k+), which involved two doors, rear quarter and bumper and wheel. I remember the PCCC telling me that they were awaiting the gap spec's for all affected...
When PAG margins shrink, a few things happen:
Everything Porsche branded becomes more expensive
Freebies / Accommodations slowly disappear
Warranty Claims on the "edge" become more difficult to obtain.
Goodwill Adjustments become less routine
I received a message via My Porsche app telling me to schedule a service appointment as my heater is failing. What I find interesting is that it was a message via the app, not the PCM or any in car warning.
I don't read any of the My Porsche messages as a rule and just found it, weeks after it...
I understand how much folks are willing to pay for the brand and all that it brings to the table. There is one flaw, that is the Taycan's reliability in those areas that matter to daily driving. From my perspective, I find the Tesla a much better DD. It surpasses the Taycan in almost every...
Tesla's as with all vehicles do have their problems. My real world experience with Tesla clearly demonstrates (to me) that it is light years ahead of the Taycan when it comes to everything except suspension and handling. I struggle to think of anything my Taycan does better, except the spirited...
Tesla's discontinuance of S &X makes a lot of sense for the following reasons:
The S fell victim to cross-over demand preference in the US market. Sedans at that price point simply are not selling well. Look no further than the current sales of Lucid, Taycan.
The X is being cannibalized by the...
The answer is dependent on what one deems the definition of "reliable".
For example, I have owned two Taycan's (MY 21 RWD & 2024 4S)over 5+ years now and never experienced:
Being stranded, other than from a pot hole induced flat tire.
Heater failure
Brake failure
Inverter/charging failure of...
In 5+ years of Taycan ownership, I have never found an EA charger that was not derated. All this capability is not worth a pile of horsesh_t, if the infrastructure does not exist or is manipulated.
In the area where I frequently charge, I have never received more than 170kW of power (and that was twice) from an EA charger in 5+ years of ownership. As it applies to me, a Taycan could have 400v and it would not matter. The constant derating of EA chargers and charge limits are an absolute joke.
I think Porsche does not want to go down the road of the constant upgrade of sold units. That is the Tesla model, not PAG. Personally, I think that it is a big blunder. PAG is short sighted here, most brands continue to meaningful update their OS and Infotainment. This does not hinder a future...
I owned a MY21 RWD for a little over 3 years and now have a MY24 4S for almost two years. Neither of these cars ever were driven in snow. I had an SUV for that duty, so I can't opine.
The RWD is a very nice drive but noticeably slower and less pull on the highway when passing. The two drive...
I wouldn't pay anything more than $50K for this car. Its all about cost of ownership over your expected holding time frame. Given how the way the BEV market is reacting, that is my view.
I have a very highly optioned '24 4S, it had an MSRP of $165K, The market tells me its worth about $75k-...
