    New Features on 2021 Taycan

Self-Parking Scenarios: If you live in a condo that has a tiny, narrow one car garage, it might be nice to let the car safely navigate itself in and out. Traveling in Europe I ran into several parking lots that were clearly built for small cars. At least twice there was only one tiny space...

Customized Look for 20" Taycan Turbo Aero Wheels for $25 - What do you think?

So, I had some black tape and decided to experiment. I think 1/2” gloss black pinstripe tape might work. Mostly it doesn’t have to be 1/2” wide, but at the ends it does. Maybe even a little wider. The challenge is the outside end isn’t 90° to the tape. And the inside end is an odd angle...

    Any Regrets with the Taycan?

    Yes, absolutely.

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

Sure, but of the dealerships I've visited (six or seven?), most had only one Taycan-trained technician. One dealership hadn't ever seen a Taycan before I drove up. It's early. This is a new world. There will be delays as they stumble around in the dark. Being an Early Adopter can be painful...

My 2 weeks of Taycan review: The Good and The Bad

I don't think it automatically activates the homelink, just automatically brings up the controls, so you don't have to dive deep into menus. (I could be wrong, it's been months since I used the feature)

My charging covers does not open

This sounds like your 12v Battery is dead. Does your key remote lock and unlock the car?

My 2 weeks of Taycan review: The Good and The Bad

I think the Homelink can be set up to automatically pop up based on GPS location. I did it for my Mom's house in California... but I only used it once. Mine has Autosensing windshield wipers. I assumed all do. (I was just using them on Monday!)

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

"My problem" can happen with any Level 2 charger. I think. But for that to happen, (again, assuming I know what I'm talking about) they would have had to have had it plugged in charging, and then somehow used the App to wake the car up and it didn't go back to sleep. Repeatedly... to...

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

It's not crazy. They obviously can't deliver a vehicle to a customer if they can't get a warning message to go away. I'll wager it is no more than a week delay (assuming the 12v battery is dead). Of course, it might be a different problem.

My 2 weeks of Taycan review: The Good and The Bad

Welcome aboard. Yes, I agree on (almost) all points. I’m ok with the AC system (once I figured it out). The connect app is horribly slow, often fails to connect, and the route planning section is laughably awful. The reversing camera looks like my BMW’s from 2000. Compared to the video...

Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

No. No progress. No news from Porsche. Does this go away if they recharge the 12v battery and reset the fault? Or does it still stay? Which means the 12v battery is damaged. Replacement will take a few days (order a new one, wait, then the installation takes a day because the 800v system...

    0% range left

Say hello to Turtle Mode. I think in this case it was a low battery SoC (12%) and a very low battery temperature (37°F). I know at warmer temps, I had to get to much lower SoC numbers before I’d see that icon.

Electrify America completes cross-country EV charging route

Just don’t attempt Interstate 80 (Wyoming!?!) or Interstate 90 (nothing, nada, zilch west of Wisconsin)

Distance & Range Anxiety - How Far Have You Gone

I drove at and above the speed limit yesterday. But the speed limits were 40-55 mph. Today, this is what my car is telling me: 280 miles of range

Is this plan a bad idea?

LA to Phoenix (via San Diego) is definitely possible. I did it in early March.

Near disaster, but is it charger(s) or car? (UPDATE: it's the car)

Many props to your wife. Yes, I’ve watched ours go through that same preparation. I personally believe cars are much easier to repair. I could fix our cars. I could never do surgery on a living being.

Near disaster, but is it charger(s) or car? (UPDATE: it's the car)

I volunteer in an animal shelter surgery clinic... I’ve photographed both dog and cat heart surgery. Oh, wait, that’s not what you asked. As a chef once told me: Never Look In the Kitchen. I prefer to live under the delusion that my car mechanic is perfect and will never fail. :) I hope...
