I’m wondering why they chose to not differentiate them. A Turbo in every other Porsche has clearly different bodywork. It seems they should have offered the Turbos with sport design package as default. Strange.
It’s has been stated there are no [external] differences between models aside from insignia, but I noticed there is a very subtle difference in the air intake design below the hood. Rwd/4S/GTS models above. Turbo models below. It’s not just paint, either; they are physically different.

According to my SA, allocations won’t be needed since this is such a high production car. You should be able to spec and order per usual; depending on A/RWD, the latter arriving a few months out.
Dealer from NJ. Bought in ATL. He’s done this for decades; has several high mileage cars. Think Irving Gordon is his example. He does this to test and showcase the engineering, though personally I think it’s ludicrous. Granted, these aren’t personal cars; more like science experiments.
