After reading this I realized that the card I had on file at Porsche was no longer valid - so I updated that. Luckily it had not caused any issues but your post made me realize that it could have!
fast chargers 70 miles apart is pretty scary....if you have a charger issue (not uncommon), that means a 140 miles..which doesn't hack it. I have been looking at a New York to Denver trip that has vast stretches of long distances between fast chargers. That has to improve before most people will...
Low profiles on bad US roads are a pain..if they don't go flat from potholes they bubble - which is less obvious but dangerous. I got the 19 inch wheels to avoid all that..not as sexy but much better for potholes
Montana is a beautiful state and I love the loosely enforced (and relatively high) speed limits! (many years ago Montana had no speed limits...)..I would love to re-visit but the lack of chargers has been a giant impediment. Nice to know that they are moving to improve that..maybe I will get...
first time I used an EA charger I had the same issue..most reliable way to release the cord, for me, has been to use the PCM | Charging | ..... | unlock the charging cord (that has never failed)..if truly desperate, put the car in gear and move it slightly..that also works!
my quick and dirty test (in SPORT mode) showed no battery temp change. Once I put it int RANGE mode, the battery temp started rising fairly quickly.....perhaps SPORT mode was the issue (or maybe I was not patient enough (!&%))
I have PIRM and have been experimenting with how to condition the battery (e.g. heat the battery) while enroute to a "Porsche charger" (e.g EA) in the GPS. The conditioning appears to ONLY work if I put the car in RANGE mode...is that really the only way that conditioning occurs?
I have a garage Juicenet charger and I hardly ever use the Porsche charger that I got with the car BUT one of the reasons I got it was to be able to test / rule in /rule out when any other (non-Porsche) charger gives me a problem. That way the dealer / Porsche can't start pointing fingers...
My RWD, which I have had for about 9 months, has been pretty much problem free (excepting the normal odd transient software issues). I may have been lucky or, perhaps, the "simplicity" of the RWD (less motors, etc) helps reduce problems. One thing to note (that is not unique to RWD): releasing...
in my experience, all EA chargers have it posted on the charger..look for a 150 or 350 (these are max rates and not guaranteed) printed on the charger...your actual rate of charge (in your case 64) has to do with a lot of variables inc. what your car is telling the charger about your battery...
Mine, with the small battery, went gradually from about 190 to 260 miles (summer; less in cool weather)..so be patient. Hint: use ECO for AC: it improves range and AC normally works just fine.
