Rough estimates: in Europe a Taycan would be cheaper vs gas. Gas is close to 2 eur per 1 litre, circa 2,3 usd, so a gallon here would be some 8,7 usd. if you charge at Ionity, Taycan pays 0,30 eur per kwh (varies by country, nordics may be lower). Other fast stations range 0,5-0,8 eur per kwh...
Great trip and lovely bokeh of your Leica. Without Ionity where will you charge?
I have the same winter set up (Pirelli NF0 on same 20" rims) different from summer. Tried them in fresh snow and icy roads around here, found them quite good and planted, good traction too. I personally prefer...
You can't speed in Norway - we can't in CH. Many similarities. Here worst offenders (e.g. very high speed) are fined a % of their annual household income up to 10% + a long driving ban (up to 2 years) + loss of car/impounded. Repeating offenders are not only hit financially, but can also be...
you seem to have tried both, would you advise turning off the "safe charging" option all the time? never? I do ca. 5-8 fast charges per month (50+ Kw). thanks
Not in the US, apologies if it was already mentioned it, but this is assuming that on top of low SoC, and pre-heated battery, the PCM option "battery protection during fast charging" (can't remember the exact name) is not ticked, right?
I'm in Europe, always with the battery protection on, max...
amazing tour and photos! I was planning something similar for later (warmer) this year. May I ask if it is more of an electric cannonball style - lots of drives and hotels, so more petrolhead oriented or do you also have time to visit cities and attractions?
never works for me, I always use the black RFID card. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or is it not enabled on turbo my2020? I activated P&C under the "charging" app (haven't moved to "myporsche" yet) as per photo but makes no difference..
I have an appointment at my dealer next wed for this. You can see in my video up here that on my parked car, smart lift randomly appears and disappears from PCM. Same as for you, it no longer lifts the car at memorized spots. Or it does it only occasionally. I will report back.
I agree on the element of people being able to track the car (vs past when it was not possible).
And yes the customer should also be informed, if these are not just short drives around the dealer's premises (in my opinion, it s about deontology more than what the dealer is legally entitled to...
Of course they do on public streets (though some have enough space within their premises to test cars). When you say "allowed" you mean that the dealer asks the customer if it's ok for them to do it? Or you mean that without informing the customer the dealer takes the car and parks it at his own...
Exactly. Huge NO NO. Not just driving around for testing (without the owner knowing??) or even worse, parked at someone's house? must be a joke.
Never seen anything remotely like this in Switzerland. No dealer would do it, let alone Porsche Zentrum(s).
Actually, if you do not feel like driving...
You can't beam CarPlay onto the passenger display. Only central display. In my case the passenger's shows Apple Music playlist (under media), no maps, no CarPlay calls (don't remember if on passenger's it shows active phone call details in the 3 squares PCM view)
would love to know about lyrics...
I tried about 15 IONITY stations (CH and ITA mostly) multiple times and they all worked fine with the card. Make sure your "Porsche Charging service" is activated (as below here) under "myporsche" web portal (under "my connect serviced").
When you are at Ionity, first connect the charging...
my smart life is back at working randomly: it lifts automatically at spots previously saved, but 70% of times does not offer to save new locations where I activate it. also appears and disappears from PCM when car is parked without any action (short video here).
just more the usual Porsche glitch...
I have the option and like it. But already had to replace both covers under warranty. If it breaks the procedure to open it manually with a supplied tool is PITA (for me). Lastly, if you accidentally forget the DC small lid open, eg. while tinkering with a fast charge station, the cover will try...
Is this the card you mean? I used it once in CH at a Porsche dealer and it worked flawlessly (the charging stations look identical). I was given it with the card and I use it for the Ionity network here in Europe
I had a similar behaviour. It took 2-3 days and some driving around to go back to normal. Did you try to go into "vehicle settings" while driving, then stopping, go in P, drive again, and observe if anything happens in that menu (e.g. smart lift appearing/disappearing etc)?
