11th Hour Delay in Delivery, by a Month!!

My car is just a couple of days out of port (Benicia, California). Tracking still indicates that it should be at my dealership by as soon as this weekend as the port is only about 20 miles away. But now you have me worried....

What type of car wash do you get?

Hand wash only with Meguiars Gold Class car wash or similar. Use two buckets, one with soap and one with clean water to rinse the wash mitt especially if the car is particularly dirty. I use a CR Spotless water deionizer as I have hard water. The resin is kind of pricey but the deionizer is a...

What happened to the 19.2 KW AC on board charger option ?

Hi Socks. To be clear I don't have my car yet (should be delivered in the next 10 days). In any event, the charger that I've been using for our e-tron and will be used for the Taycan as well is a Clipper Creek 9.6kW charger plugged into a 50A circuit in my garage. Since we don't drive every day...

Which option do you need to be able to get Rear cross-traffic alert?

I guess I just assumed it would have rear CTA. That's unfortunate, especially in a car with limited visibility out the back. It's a very useful feature on the e-Tron; even my Ford F250 has rear CTA.

    Radar Detector question

There's an excellent DIY thread on how to do a hardwired radar detector install. It's for a V1 but it should be applicable to your Escort. I've been hardwiring detectors to the fuse box in vehicles for years and have never had a warranty issue. Also, if you pick a switched circuit as described...

    Blocking front wheel arch vents

It makes sense that the openings in the front valence would improve aerodynamics when closed; the e-Tron has a similar powered system as do other vehicles. Since this thread was about the wheel arch vents, though, that's what my comment was about and I'll stand by my assertion that having those...

    Blocking front wheel arch vents

I get that someone posted in another thread that closing the vents improved drag. However, clearly the bodywork is styled to make a vent behind the front wheels possible. Why would Porsche design for a vent opening that would INCREASE drag? OTOH, if the opening behind the wheel is intended as...

Taycan software update - reported problems post update

I've been reading these update horror stories although since I don't yet have my car the interest is somewhat academic. I don't know whether my recently produced 4S will require an immediate update or not but on the assumption that the car is fully functional when I receive it and the...

    TYD down?

Same issue here. Using the original link from the welcome email worked for me too. Thanks!

    How many charge to 100%

I don't have my car yet but I charge our e-Tron to 80% for daily use (as per Audi's recommendation) and intend to charge the Taycan to the same level.

    I don’t have surround view!

I don't have my car yet so I'm not 100% sure if I understand exactly what Surround View does or doesn't provide relative to it's description. I will mention that when I bought my 2014 GT3 the optional 18 way adjustable sport seats were advertised with a memory feature which it turned out they...

    Center Cap removal

Of course! Is there any other way to do it? :like:

    Center Cap removal

Now that's an interesting idea! I don't have a GoPro but I have mounting stands with suction cups for some other devices that might work if the size is right. I'll have to look into that.

    Production delay

I also saw that notice this morning. My car is already on a ship headed for the West Coast so I may have just missed being affected.

    Center Cap removal

Hmmm. The configurator indicates they are $190 when ordered with the car. Or did you find an aftermarket source that had them for less than Suncoast's $169??

    Center Cap removal

By mistake, I didn't order colored center caps on my build. After the fact, I discovered that they are actually less expensive from Suncoast ($169) than they are as an option from the factory ($190) so no real harm done. I'm curious, though, as to how the caps are removed. Older style caps had...

    Front fender vents

I've also been thinking of doing something with screens. Expanding my planned front end PPF to the doors is another option. I've been making the same assumption that road debris coming through the vents could theoretically be a problem. Does anyone have real world experience with this? Is it...
