Thank you, I have my recall service coming up and will discuss. In the meantime I will return this to the eBay seller and destroy his reputation if he doesnt return my money!
Just bought this online from a reputable seller on eBay but the date on the sticker makes me think it's almost expired. It is hard as a rock, and I believe it's supposed to be fluid. I don't read German but am very suspicious I got a piece of junk here.
I have the same vehicle and just did my own 40K service, saving $1K (my brake fluid already replaced during the recent recall). So you could redo all that math or just stick with your plan, which is same as mine.
yeah I look forward to telling the service rep I already replaced the filter. It is due for some software related recalls so I'll take it in and probably get the inspections for free as this dealer is pretty reasonable and I've been a loyal customer to the brand.
Thanks everyone! I replaced the filter on my own and if there was a "proud of myself" emoji I'd splash it across this post. Here is a pic of what I removed. I am at 40K miles. I assume it was replaced by Porsche before during regular maintenance? Still, this is a lot of yuk and glad I did it...
Fair enough about the value of service records, those were important when I put my 911S on auction But as you note, the work is "non-technical" and as such, I don't see the value. I can inspect the horn, seat belts, wipers, and even brake pads on my own.
Would be interesting to hear from others as with the limited reply so far I can clearly see two camps. At the moment, I am in the camp of asking them to replace the air filter and reset the minder to clear the "replace brake fluid" notice since it was done last year. They have recall work to do...
