Charge to 85% - What on earth is going on!!!

I had this problem and solved it by tapping the "Direct Charge" button inside the car. If you used it previously, it needs to be manually shut off or it keeps overriding the timer.

    Help me Choose...

If you are keeping the car 10 years (as you say) then you need to prioritize the use case above all other considerations because these are vastly different vehicles (I know b/c I've owned both). I owned a 911S Cab for 12 years. I was young, with small kids, and my priority was a fun performance...

What's the best mode for "fuel efficiency?" What's your experience? Who has done an empirical comparison?

I think the moral is .... ACC all the way and AC off! I tried that today from SAN-LAX-SAN, made a side trip to Beverly Hills and the Porsche Experience Center, and got home with 9 miles of range left!

What's the best mode for "fuel efficiency?" What's your experience? Who has done an empirical comparison?

you lost me at "I have a bank account." (I stopped using banks decades ago. All my money in a brokerage account. Banks are evil)

What's the best mode for "fuel efficiency?" What's your experience? Who has done an empirical comparison?

I try to do this but I get impatient and my results are not empirical..... It is a 101 mile drive from San Diego to LA, a drive that I make fairly often. At 100% charge, I have a thin margin of error to make it to LA, drive around the block a couple times for whatever errand, and drive home...

    Is Porsche Connect worth it?

Okay - sounds like I can get by without it. Although I do need to spend $ again to earn MQDs for Delta Medallion status for '25....I think I'll wait on this one.

    Is Porsche Connect worth it?

Got an email saying my "Porsche Connect" contract is expiring. I thought that this was the free 30-min charging sessions at EA stations but the online description is quite different. Has anybody renewed this - or not - and can advise if it's worth it? I use Apple CarPlay instead of most PCM...

How reliable (or unreliable) are these cars.... really ?!?

if you really want to know if you are an old fart - ask your kids. But be prepared you may not like the answer. Really tho, I'm just trying to help the OP to justify his purchase so y'all need to stop taking this so personally :CWL:

How reliable (or unreliable) are these cars.... really ?!?

I sold my 911S and bought the RWD '22 Taycan. 2+ years in and I am very happy, no issues apart from a few recalls (to be expected with such a revolutionary new model). I think you tend to see more complaints on these sights than praise. If you're happy, you don't have much to talk about, as...

    Taycan: 1, Tesla: 0

The dash shows more miles remaining than are available in reality, and we don't have many chargers near our home. But when you see that you have 5 miles remaining and are less than half a mile from your home, you'd think you have ample range to make it there.

    Taycan: 1, Tesla: 0

One warning is enough but to answer your question the dash shows more miles remaining than are available in reality, and we don't have many chargers near our home. But when you see that you have 5 miles remaining and are less than half a mile from your home, you'd think you have ample range to...

    Taycan: 1, Tesla: 0

We have these two EVs, my wife drives the Tesla (which to me is nothing more than an appliance). And we've both had the experience of running out of charge near our home. Both vehicles predict range, but that is not necessarily accurate and with EV's I have come to learn there is no "reserve."...

    Steering on rear wheels

you asked earlier if it makes a difference at high speeds. It definitely seems so to me although I never had a version without it. I would definitely option this again. It was one of my "must haves" and I have no regrets.

No heat in cabin - just picked up car from Porsche dealer!

I had the same experience. Are you using "Auto" on the panel? Try to dial it back one or two clicks down from Auto and see if that resolves the problem. I was told the Auto is very quiet and you may not hear it operating.

Decision on buying Facelift or Pre-Facelift

I believe the false impression of being "riddled with problems" is driven by the complaints that make their way to this forum, because owners found this outlet to vent frustration or seek guidance.. I've not had any problem and I ran a poll some time back on this site revealing the vast...

    Considering this 2022 Taycan 4s - 22K miles - Decent deal?

More than 50% off and the car is barely 2 years old? I'm suspicious. It's an awesome deal. Tread with caution.

Questions before buying a used Taycan

Ignore your fears! Buy the car. You won't regret it. Just find out if the car - being used - has been in for repeated repairs. There are some "lemons" in every model series and you wouldn't want that one to be for sale for that reason.

The paradox of a Porsche Taycan

When the PCM freezes or goes blank, you use two fingers (ie put your middle and forefinger together), and press them against the glass in the far upper right corner of the display (where the time/temperature reading is or supposed to be). If the display was frozen the screen will go black and...

The paradox of a Porsche Taycan

Sorry about all those issues. I've not had anything serious apart from the schizophrenic PCM - don't lose faith in the car! Do you know how to reset the PCM on your own? The two finger, upper right corner hack?
