Here's a few more pics including the center console and rear door. I had it on my first Taycan and loved it. I'd spec it every time if I was building a Taycan. Unfortunately, my current Taycan was an off the lot purchase, so no paldao. Personally, I much prefer it to the carbon, metal, or...
I suspect you'll be happy with the decision. I've been in a Taycan for about 5 years, starting with a 2020 Turbo S and now a 2025 Turbo. The J1.2 is an all around more refined version of the J1.1. So if you like the Taycan, you'll like the newer version as it's just better variant. Congrats.
FWIW, and for others who may be interested, you don't need to pay someone to "upgrade" to full screen CarPlay. I followed the instructions on Rennlist when I enabled full screen on my mom's Macan. It's pretty easy and straightforward.
Dislike this part of the post. I'll be at the game this weekend.
I was curious about the shipping notification because I haven't gotten one and was wondering if it would just show up.
Great write up Dave. It's fun to read your perspective as track-focused machines. I've only ever driven the 750S on the street, and while it's fun and the power delivery and sound are just intoxicating, it's uncomfortable and "too much" to drive daily IMHO. That's where a 911 shines. You can...
Although I no longer have the Gentian Blue 2020, I still have the same combo. I just don't have a pic of the 911 Targa with the Chalk J1.2 Taycan. It's such a good combo and so fun to go from fully electric to manual ICE.
Congrats! I added a manual 992.1 Targa 4 GTS to the garage last fall and the weather here is finally warm enough to keep the top down. You'll love it no doubt.
I was just thinking about this on my commute this AM. I have a J1.2 Turbo and have used "push to pass" maybe twice, both times just for fun. In actual driving, the car has so much torque and power on demand that 'push to pass' is completely superfluous. Maybe on a track?
Take this with a grain of salt like anything else on here but I was told by my dealer next quarter Porsches will be able to use the Tesla supercharger network. There will be a Porsche adapter to use at non magic-dock sites. I hope the info I got is accurate, but not holding my breath....
I have a '25 Turbo and ESS is listed on the sticker as a $500 option, so presumably not standard? I didn't build mine so don't know for sure.
What I have noticed, however, is that the electric sound, even when turned off, sounds different from J1.1 to J1.2. Like @W1NGE, I think it's pretty...
Good write up. Last month I moved from a 2020 (Turbo S) to a 2025 (Turbo) and agree with your observations. The J1.2 is an all around more refined version of the original. I was going to do a more thorough comparison at some point.
Interesting to me is that you find the Bose to be "cleaner"...
Exactly. I owed my 2020. Value was dropping at about the same rate as my monthly payment. So I traded it in on a leased 2025. Now I don't really care what it's worth.
If you build, you won't get a discount. Find one sitting on a lot, work out a good deal, and then lease, both for the tax incentive but also because of crushing depreciation.
Excellent reporting and photography as always Damien!
I'm so envious of your charging infrastructure in Europe. You can just pull off of the highway for numerous "splash and go" high speed charges at your leisure. Meanwhile, I have literally one high speed charging option on my 117 mile drive...
