Maybe they just put a generic 12V just to keep the car running so they can move it but the actual one is still needed before delivery?
I'm thinking this as well, would make sense they need a battery to get the car started to move onto the ships.

That said, @jld1's car hasn't left for Emden yet, and is showing a green dot. So it's possible they've finally started to get normal supply of batteries and getting them installed into cars. Possible they're still shipping cars FIFO, so now it's awaiting arriving to Emden once they clear the shipping backlog of cars that were already produced around our timeframes first that just got their batteries retrofitted

I mean, it can't be that the car is being powered any other way right? The battery for the motor only goes to the wheels, nothing else?

In most EVs, the HV battery is used to recharge the 12V battery when it is running low. In Tesla's case, if the 12V battery failed then the car is actively powered by the HV battery but is very inefficient, all kinds of alerts will be displayed and the HV battery will be drained within a few days. I'm not sure how Porsche handled that but I would think that they won't leave the car powered on at all if the 12V battery (actual or generic) is not fitted.

That’s exactly that. I’ve been checking my car @ the delear (arrived in July) and it’s fitted with a different battery (kepted in the frunk) “for transport only”

From the recent posts like this one from @Nic4S - it would appear that production line started fitting 12V batteries again at the end of week 37 (w/c 12 September)

Has anyone else here received a car with a battery built around this time?

Want to test out a theory - everyone who has a car completed but potentially waiting on battery, can you check to see if on your MyPorsche app, you can see your car with a green dot? @poppap discovered his changed to show this, potentially meaning the car is connected to the internet which might mean it has a 12V battery now since it powers the auxiliary systems. Mine is showing it as well when I checked today (also may coincidentally it says it reached emden today too)

Mine is showing the “Ready The vehicle is exchanging current data” symbol.

Sorry to hear. That’s not good.

Reading between the lines, I think it was the end of week 37 that batteries began to arrive and were then fitted to cars beginning their production run at that point. For example @Nic4S had his start production on Friday 16 September.

So effectively cars that finished production in week 38 (from 19 to 24 September) appears were fitted up.

My car was built in week of the 12th September. Initially it didn't have a 12V battery, and my dealer indicated it commenced its journey to the OPC without it...however, two weeks later I got a call out of the blue to say it was held back in Stuttgart before transportation and had the battery fitted. It is due at the dealer any time now with a battery, apparently.

My car was produced in W39 and was also deliverd to the dealer without the 12V starter battery. Currently the cars which have been produced in July are now equipped with 12V batteries at the dealers (waiting time for 12V Bat >3 months). In German speaking forums, users are mentioning additional push outs and shifting of delivery dates for cars which should be produced after W40 - without an explaination - Looks like the problem is still not yet resolved and customer communcation is still a mess

My vehicle completion date was 8th of July. I am yet to receive a battery.

Yes my October build dates were shifted (without explanation) by 5 weeks. My build now completes on 25 November. I’ve been assured (by dealer) of no 12v battery supply issue impacts *and* no issue with Bose which is a standard fit on my spec.

I suspected this delay was down to assuring they had supply of Bose, which as we know is known to have parts supply issues and has been temporarily withdrawn on configurators around the world as an optional extra.

I went to the trouble of setting this up and I have the “green dot”. While interesting, I am not convinced that this has anything to do with whether or not the car has a 12V battery.

Anyone have additional info on this?
