I drive same distance to work every day and start to have a good statistic on winter performance. It is 73km each way, mix of city, backroad and highway, typ. Avg speed 60-70km/h. The trip start and end at sea level but has a peak of 450m above sea level. My max consumption has been 31-32kwh/100km this at temp. - 16 - - 22C. At - 7C avg I consume 23-24kwh/100km and at +15C typ. 18-19kvh. Steady traffic so "sensible" driving.

Car is warm in the morning but cold on return. 4S CT with 20' summer and winter, studded winter tires so not best for range. I have maybe 3-5% worse range when tjere is slush on the roads

170kms is abnormal. Small battery RWD Taycan is getting 290-300kms consistently with everything on, the highway, at -5 Celsius. Music, 20-degree climate, vented/cooled seats, no energy saving whatsoever. 20" Aero wheels with winter Goodyear.

The dealer should investigate.

170km is definitely an indication that something is wrong. I had a significantly reduced range, and it ended up being two bad cells. What I was told by the Porsche battery technician is that you may not see any 'error codes' at relatively high SOC. They had to drive the car down to below 15% and let it sit overnight - then the codes showed up, and they were able to identify and fix the problem.

Update: I bought a Nexass Bluetooth OBD dongle, and downloaded Car Scanner.

Car Scanner shows battery health at 93%, cell voltages range from 3.72-4.03., numerous fault codes but nothing stands out.

Battery charged to 80%, but Car Scanner shows battery energy at 44.3kWh. The Battery Performance Plus 93kWh has a usable 83.7kWh of capacity. 80% of 83.7kWh is around 66kWh, not the 44.3kWh I have. I'm closer to 53% SOC, even though both the car and Car Scanner for 80%.
At an 80% charge level your min-max difference in cell voltage should be in the range of 4 to 8 millivolts. Your difference of 310 mv is almost certainly an indication that a cell/module is going bad. Given the weather where you are and some reports of the range deteriorating very rapidly when a battery fails you might not want to risk a long (?) drive to the dealer. Report the data that Car Scanner has shown and ask if they will tow your car.

We drove to dealer, with a 10 minute fast charge on the way. Dealer did a software update and factory reset. We showed them screen shots from our scanner. They agree that the range is nowhere near what it should be and will be taking the car back for a week in the new year for a mechanic to use and troubleshoot.

Update: Car died on the highway first week of January. Power loss was instant and wife couldn’t even fully get off the road. Life threatening situation. She called Porsche assistance and they sent a regular tow truck. Wife insisted on a flatbed, but it took hours to arrive.

Dealer found defective cell modules. Delivered a Maycan as a loaner, then replaced with a Taycan Cross Turismo, until she put too many miles on it. Now she is driving a Cayenne.

Hey Taycan was sent from the Ottawa dealer to the Montreal dealer in March. Apparently the Ottawa dealer doesn’t have the equipment to drop the battery. Almost May now and she still doesn’t have her car back.

She loved the Taycan, but with the scary incident of it dying on the road, the absolutely horrible charging infrastructure (less than 50% of public chargers working) and the lengthy repair time, she is ready to give up.

She has tried negotiating with Porsche to take back the Taycan and trade it in for a 911. Problem is we paid $196,000cad for the Taycan and the dealer will only credit us $130,00. It will cost us another $70,000 for the 911. The 911 is valued at $203,000. So in the end, we would be paying $266,000 for a $203,000 911 and 8 months of living the ev nightmare.

That’s the situation as of today. I’m not sure ? which way is going to go.

Is there such thing as a lemon law in Canada?
No lemon law in Canada. Porsche has honoured its warranty by providing a vehicle of similar value while the Taycan is in for repairs. My wife asked if they would just take the car back and the response was “that’s not even on the table “
