My OBC broke a while ago as well, and I was told by my dealer that Porsche no longer offers the 22kW chargers, as there are too many issues with the only model available, so they downgrade to the 11kW charger instead, and then refunds the original cost (in my case I received SEK 17,400 (appr. USD 1,870) from the dealer, after they had received it from Porsche Sweden).

No big issue for me, as I have restricted charging at home down to ~5kW to optimise the longevity of the HVB (I mostly use the car for shorter trips, so I rarely go below 40%, and then charge back to 85% over night). For longer trips I still prefer my old RS6 :).

This optimizes nothing, the battery is rated for 270kw. You charging it 50x slower compared to the standard 20x slower will not somehow magically make it degrade less, as it degrades anyway just from age. If anything, newer reserch shows that periodic fast chargingf and periodic high output - so acceleation, may in fact improve the life expectancy of battery cells.

Not to mention that porsche actually even removed any "battery saving mode" on refreshed taycan software as according to thme they groslly over estimated degradation from charging.

Thanks for your input. From what I have read about HVB charging, there is still a small gain to be made (in terms of prolonged battery life) by charging slower rather than faster, even though modern battery management technology has evolved to the point where the difference is no longer as big as before. So while I understand your point that the optimisation in my case may be minute, I still prefer the slower charging rate in principle, as it covers my needs (if I begin charging in the evening—at ~5kW—the next day when I need the car the SOC is in most cases back up to 85%; the only time I charge the car up to 100% is when I'll take the car to the track the very next day, and the only time I fast charge is in the rare case I do any longer trips with the car).

PS. I notice that my location flag in my profile presentation on the left is Croatia's, while I'm in Sweden (and have also set Sweden in my settings); is there anyone here that may be reading this that has an idea why the Croatian flag pops up instead...?
