Adding features/hardware after delivery

Hi all,

I put down a deposit for a base Taycan. I had to go with an inventory model since I don't want to wait 2-3 months to take delivery. Unfortunately, this also means that I was not able to get the exact config I would want had I custom ordered.

As this would be my first Porsche, I'm not familiar with how they do things. This is probably a Taycan specific question, but does anyone know if it is possible to add software features a la carte after delivery? I know in some cases you would need additional hardware to support said features (for example Innodrive), but I'm curious if any software features can be added at all without installing new hardware.

For example, in my Model S I love the fact that the side mirrors tilt down automatically when you reverse. Very helpful for avoiding curb rash when parallel parking. As I understand it, this option is only included if you order the "Memory Package" at delivery, which is only included as part of the 14-way adjustable seat option. My inventory order only comes with the standard 8-way adjustable seats, so no Memory Package. Is it possible to add this single feature, or even the Memory Package, after the fact?

Another thing I want, but wasn't included in my inventory model, is the 25 foot charging cable. This appears to require the upgraded Mobile Connect charger, which also isn't included in my order. Is it possible to order just the 25 foot charging cable and attach it to the standard charger? Alternatively, is it possible to order the Mobile Connect + 25 foot cable after delivery (for $1000+, ugh)?

For the cable you can just buy a quality J1772 Extension from Amazon. Just make sure the Amp rating is right. A slightly (but not much) more expensive option is to buy another charger which has a 25ft cable.

I wouldn't count much on anything to be added after you buy the car. It is usually not possible or when it is it would cost an arm and a leg. If you don't like the car the way it is already spec-ed then don't buy it and wait for another one.

You can ask the dealer(perhaps he already did it) to register your Taycan on the myporsche website. You can then go to the connect store and see what options are available for your Taycan. This website is car dependent, so options not shown are either not available for you(due to missing hardware) or already on your car.

Note. The connect site is work in progress (to put it mildly), for my car the only options shown is the data bundle, but Innodrive is for sure available for it.

No I mean exactly what I said. A J1772 extension would give you the equivalent of a 25ft J17772 cable. Like this one.
If you buy a Nema 14-50 extension then you will have to drag the charger around every time.

Thanks & sorry, I was not aware this was a option. Clearly better than what I was looking at & I will be getting the extension you have pointed out.

Interesting, do you have the "memory package"? I believe this allows you to store preset seat positions.

Maybe they added the mirror tilt as a default option in the 2021 model?

At a minimum you need the Driver Memory Package if you don't opt for the either of the seat upgrades.

Do you know if the Driver Memory Package is available as a FoD? Looking at the configurator, I don't see an option to spec just the Memory Package. It is only included with either the 14-way or 18-way seats, which my build doesn't have (it just has Standard seats).

It is an option on the UK config. Perhaps check the standard spec for the US market as it may be bundled (go to configurator and scroll down to the bottom with tech specs and standard specs can be viewed) but I suspect not.

Check with your dealer to be sure.

Not an FoD option (currently) - requires hardware to be pre-installed and as a general rule of thumb can't be offered via FoD if not present.

Yeah, I have a feeling I'm out of luck. Lame.

I already asked the dealer but thus far my experience with Porsche dealers (this is my first Porsche) is that they don't know much about how the Taycan works. After reading these forums I'm fairly sure I know more than they do now. That being said, the dealer did say they would look into the tilting mirrors question as well as my other question about getting the longer charging cable, which was also not included in my inventory model spec.
