Hi everyone,

I recently noticed that my Taycan isn’t driving straight, when the car is going straight, the steering wheel points slightly to the left. Sounds like I probably need a wheel alignment.

I called a few Porsche dealers in the SF Bay Area and got quotes that were all over the place: $4,900, $3900, $2,700, $1,090, and $365. All of these came directly from Porsche dealerships.

From what I’ve been told, a Taycan wheel alignment can only be done at a dealer due to the calibration requirements. Does this pricing sound reasonable to you, or am I just being charged an "Because-you-don’t-know fee” here?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I only did mine with a dealer bc it was there for a few other things and they claimed the "camera needed calibration" as well. I think thats BS, but did it one time. it was ~1800 if i remember correctly.

Any good tire shop with Hunter Engineering or similar calibration equipment can do it. In the UK we pay about +/- £100 say $135 providing the front camber doesn't need adjusting as that requires the front bumper to be removed. There a specialist centres which charge around £400 and they will spend more time getting optimum readings. I had mine done at my OPC for free as I bought a six week old demonstrator car. It took the tech about 25 mins.

My local dealer was $2K. I didn't do it; my tires are 4 years old so I'm just going to wait until I get new tires (or it tracks odd).

My local dealer wanted $1000 for alignment. I told them that it does not make any sense to spend so much money on the alignment when I have to buy a new set of tires every 1.5 to 2 years anyway.

I fibbed that the other competing Porsche dealership only charges 500 for alignment. He agreed to do it for 500.

Honestly, I don’t think they’re doing anything much but they kept mentioning camera calibration and I got sucked into accepting the deal. It probably cost them hundred dollars to do the whole thing.

Which dealers did you call? Also who quoted you $365?

Reviving thread a bit...I'm currently at Porsche Walnut Creek and being quoted $1300. Not sure if pricing is by VIN, depending on options (I have rear wheel steering). I've approved the work, but I will push back for an overall discount and/or PCA discount.

let us know if they accept any of the discounts and what you end up paying at the end.

My SA advised on a camera-less alignment for $300 or the full monty with a 15% PCA discount. I'm doing $300 and will watch for wear. Car is new-ish to me (Oct), so learning along the way.

Nice - thats $300 alignment, you can't go wrong. I paid somewhere the 1000s for my alignment and it was due to the camera needed 'calibration' after alignment. Honestly, the cameras suck, so you likely won't notice any calibrations in the slights of degrees it may be off from calibration.

I'm no tech - so definitely take that with a bucket of salt.
