It doesn't make any sense to see the two words Lexus/Toyota and Porsche in the same sentence or conversation!

Both are made for entirely different buyers groups. You either put re-sale value first or driving experience and joy first

we spend too many hours of our lives in a Car, might as well enjoy it

I bought my Taycan Pre-Owned from Porsche Dealership and that is about all what I can do rationally! The rest is just pure emotions and joy and I know it and there is no shame in that.

Ok. I preface this by acknowledging my diminished cognitive abilities, so I turn to the state for help…

I spent a decade in a Tesla, hopeful then that eventually some sort of battery recycling/reconditioning infrastructure would be developed to help offset the massive depreciation that would occur when the vehicles got older. But it was fine, as the battery was covered for unlimited mileage for 8 years.

now I jumped into a Taycan and have been happily enjoying it. Amazing. But…

it feels like a ticking time bomb. In 4 years, when the warranty is up (I drive a lot, so my 160k battery warranty will most likely also be gone then) holding on to an electric Porsche is a scary thought. Right around then my car will also be worth…a third(?) of what I purchased it for?

ok we’ve been over (and over and over) the depreciation thing. Where am I going?

well after driving (and seeing endless rose-coloured YouTube reviews) a Lexus Lc500, I can’t get over the way that thing revs. Easy to dismiss as “just a Lexus”, it’s got great quality and finish inside and out. Road presence. Drives great. Yes it’s not blazing fast, but neither am I. I can easily push it to 7/10 and have fun…..where the Taycan gets to same speeds easier and quicker….but also effortlessly. To get the most out of the Taycan l’end up in jail or worse.

so. Even swapping an 8 month old CT4S for a brand new Lc500? Yes. I said I was crazy

I think it’s the allure of one last great (bulletproof) v8 before an endless future of hybrids and EVs

anyone drive/own both care to comment? I’m still here with you guys….just a little curious about the ice side (it’s been over a decade of an EV only life)
Having spent a considerable amount of time in both vehicles here is my take.....

The Taycan is very effortless primarily due to the insane immediate torque of electric motors compared to ICE.
Taycan is also very quiet and makes getting up there in speed seem even more effortless compared to ICE ala LC500
The Lexus will need to be wrung out to keep up with the Taycan on even part throttle accelerations.
The fit and finish of the Lexus seems better than the Taycan when you are talking about noises.
There are more apparent rattles in the Taycan which you may not notice much or have gotten used to. But go from one car to the other and you will notice how much less of those annoying sounds are in the Lexus.
The infotainment software in the Lexus is worse than the Taycan in my opinion but it responds faster.
The ride goes to Taycan but the Lexus is not far behind at all (air suspension in Taycan)
Handling will go to the Lexus but only because of weight

These two cars are a lot closer than you would expect if additional seating and carrying space is not required.

Your take is similar to mine (hence the post). I think having gone over a decade EV only, going back to a nicely built ICE car was alluring. Thanks for the take. Your initial point about the LC having to put in more effort I actually see as a positive…..making the engine work is part of the fun. The Taycan will hit 160kmh so easy I don’t even realize how fast I’m going. Totally different beasts for sure. But both well built
