Sales are down for all EVs so not unusual, but perhaps a brake loss recall, battery fire recall, or nonfunctioning heater recall may be having some impact?

Porsche Taycan Sales Are A Disaster, But Cayenne Saves The Day | Carscoops

The good news is that limited future supply might boost resale value....
Not to mention that Porsche is strangling production to avoid a vehicle glut or oversupply, as with the first generation, and to dissuade bargain hunters, protecting the brand from becoming too accessible and thus diminishing its semblance of perceived exclusivity.

China drops to #3 Porsche’s world market position ?
Trade war zeitgeist encore
Trade war hasn't even started. China has yet to impose any tarifs
This is just porsche not being capable of offering a competitive product for the chinese market, where is much innovation in the EV market at low prices

That and the cars are just way too expensive for what they are. This is pretty standard now across all brands though.

I agree and I think this may well be the end of German and Japanese automobile domination. This is not transitory how Porsche and other German auto CEO's may like to spin it. Chinese cars are better overall and provide much better value for money. Tariff is just reactionary and will not do much than harm German manufacturers even more. No manufacturer can sustain dominance by selling only in Europe and US that are by some standards saturated.

This is a very good article that gets more in the details of Chinese buyers and Chinese market.

German automakers are in the same position nokia was back in the day. Things didn't turn out good for nokia, when they refused to adapt.

German automakers seem to go all down on China, while slowing down production in Germany / Europe. So maybe they will soon be chinese automakers? ?

At least they are aware that they need to evolve, but they are still with very old mentality, as they seem to consider that developing "local" cars for the chinese market, with chinese market specific infotainment and technology is the solution, while keeping the rest of the world in the stone age. They are ignoring that Chinese automakers won't stay in China, they are coming to europe, and they bring their technology with them.

I tend to agree with the rather depressing analyses of the future of German automobiles. They are the penultimate mechanical fabricators of the ICE and high quality automobiles. Unfortunately they are grossly behind in electronic and software technology compared to the US, China and others. The Germans will have to continue moving upmarket to sell cars, and that will not support their current industry.
