In tthe US, for me the clincher was the GTS was the only way to get a sport turismo.
I much prefer leather and specced it with all leather and luxury options and find it a great balance. With the way I specced the car with performance options, many of which were standard in GTS and optional in a 4S, the price difference was not significant.
I looked at changing my order to a GTS ST from a CT4S when it was announced because I love the Racetex and leather interior however when I specified the ventilated massage seats I wanted it changed to leather and with all the options I wanted it was almost 10% more money. I also really thought the extra 15mm suspension travel and more supple ride would suit my local roads better than the GTS spec, so I stuck with the CT4S and am delighted with it for my use.

Having driven both, there is a big performance difference between the 4s and GTS. Most noticeable when there are passengers in the car. 4s actually feels sluggish in that instance.

Does anyone know if the J1.2 GTS will ever get released, or is it just for J1?
Of course it will. There is always a GTS in every Porsche lineup and generation.

Historically it used to be prior to a key face-lift but with the Taycan it came long before. Give it a year and it will appear for sure.

Along with keeping tradition in having the GTS trim in between S and Turbo models, I can only see one reason why Porsche decided to detune a Turbo motor instead of tuning the smaller 4S motor---thermal management. Although slower, I'm sure you could push the GTS at its limit for a lot longer than you could a Turbo. But I guess that point is moot now with ASG tuning becoming available.
