Bespoke Racetex delays?

Hi all
Is anyone else experiencing a delay while their car sits in “Custom Tailoring”?

my GTS is painfully close to completion. MyPorsche updated to level 4 (production complete) a week ago and gave me a VIN etc. DealerSA is saying that their screen has shown it stuck in Custom Tailoring for at least three weeks. It was supposed to in the Uk in late Sept/early Oct and I’m concerned now it won’t make even December.

Im wondering if it’s the pesky B Pillar in Racetex option i checked which is an “exclusive manufaktur” item I fear.

From what I have seen in the past with Porsche, they can get backed up in the custom shop…which can have a downstream effect on other vehicles. May not have anything to do with the particular options you’ve chosen.

usually they won’t send a car into the custom shop if there is a known shortage. The car sits outside the shop until the materials are available.

I removed racetex B pillar from my order in April since then it was an indefinite hold. No idea what has happened since though.

Have you requested a system printout from the dealer on status? Sometimes the codes they put in the system can give an indication as to what is going on.

While it wasn’t the main reason I removed race-tex B-pillars from my order, the potential for adding production delay on “exclusive manufaktur” options was definitely something my SA warned me about. Good thing I listened. The GTS allocation that I was finally given only 2 months ago, is now built and already on ship headed for the Baltimore port with expected dealer arrival in 3 weeks. It moved quickly.

No, I just asked for progress from time to time, they seemed as surprised as me.
