I have resisted asking Reading for an update, I am going to try and hold out until Tuesday week.
Mine supposedly was due to complete production on 1 November so I was reliably informed. But then I subsequently discovered (from another Porsche dealer) that 1/11 was a German holiday!?

So..yeah. Awaiting am shipping details from dealer atm…but all is very quiet. Hmmmmm

So......

Had a call from Dealer on Friday afternoon, car now with them. Build sheet shows as having BOSE, but until technician starts prepping the car we won't know if it actually does have all of the components and can be driven (by me!), or if its got a partial build and going to be sat in the dealers compound until a head-unit eventually gets delivered!

Seriously? I thought Porsche was better than that and had precise parts tracking in the factory, so their computer systems know exactly what part was installed in what car. Are you telling me they adopted a Tesla model, where nobody knows what is installed on the car until the dealer goes digging in? That model does not scale well to the a la carte options Porsche offers, where there are millions of possible options combinations. Even Tesla learned that and moved to a very limited choices model. Maybe Porsche decided Tesla model is better, 2 trims, 5-6 exterior colors to choose from, 2-3 wheel options, 2 interior colors, and 1-3 software enabled options, that's it. Surely it will simplify their manufacturing, maybe they can match Tesla pricing too, fully loaded Taycan Turbo S at the same price as fully loaded Model S Plaid.

All down to component shortages, so whilst it may say still has BOSE (My build slot was around the timing of when Porsche ceased to enable BOSE to be added on the configurator for new orders), what we don't know is if it does have it but due to component shortages they have shipped without the head-unit and will therefore place the car under 'stop-sale' .... Apparently there are a number of 'stop-sale' conditions across the wide range of cars, for a number of conditions!

Component shortages don't explain tracking deficiencies. If they did not have a Bose component to put in, it should show up in the tracking. If they substituted Bose with some other option, it should also show up in their tracking. How are they expecting to support a myriad of possible options combinations if their tracking system doesn't even know the details at the option level?

Waiting for mine to enter build phase and will adopt the same attitude regarding wait and see. I gave up long ago trying to understand how Porsche could treat their customers and their dealerships so poorly. Their communication is laughable and I find myself actually smiling now when I read these type of updates. Not in enjoyment but bemusement. Arse and elbow, piss up and brewery keep coming to mind………and I’m paying for it. That just made me smile as well. ???

Agreed but annoyingly they make very good cars. Had a Model Y hire car over half term in Spain and it just emphasised how good the Taycan is. If I really had a hissy fit I'd get an iX but the beauty of the TCT is getting back to an estate and away from SUV/SAV. It seems they know that but treating customers like this must come back to bite them at some point.

Likewise, I have adopted wait and see approach. Mine should be in production atm but I'm not going to ask about it until next week. PRG told me that missing Bose or battery etc are flagged at CP8.0 with an "urgent action" label when they look at the VIN detail on their system

Agree completely and, Comms or No Comms, there’ll be a CT4S in my garage at some point. ?

Hi Simon, I’m following your progress/journey so I can get a sense of where I am or will be as well. Fingers crossed it goes well with yours from here on in.

Hi Mark

I will keep you posted! My thinking is no point contacting SA this week as they can only confirm it is either in production or delayed. Assuming it has not slipped in the last 10 days then CP8.0 and Elmden should be this Friday and I am aware of a few cars moving straight on to the next boat to the UK with 3 boats a week it maybe that mine gets to the UK next week.... fingers crossed

I'm still chasing for updates on my build. Two weeks ago I was told the build slot they'd been told didn't happen and they have no idea when my car will start build now. I've chased today but no answers yet.

I'd be disappointed if it turns out I won't have Bose. Not just for not having it but because I also decided to stop ticking option boxes as I didn't want to spend too much. If I don't have Bose I could have put that money to something else I wanted but ticked Bose instead. That will annoy me more I think.

Exactly that …..there should be a moment ..when they say you can’t have items …where you can specify alternatives
Having had the freeze date cut short by a week, when trying to make a couple of changes …I too would be annoyed if they left something off at this late stage ?

Yesterday I received a phone call about my 4s delivery, unfortunately it will be delivered without Bose system. So today I went to Porsche Centrum Leusden to checkout the standard audio system and if it was pretty bad I wanted to discus Burmester or other options.. But to be honest, the standard system it is pretty good actually.

I've read a few threads about the poor quality of the standard system, actually based my decision for Bose on those threads. But for everyone who is doubting, I listened to both systems today, I do hear a difference, but not a 1500€ difference. So don't worry if you are not an audiophile! Definitely not worth a delivery delay of 6 months.
same experience here regards my RWD ST due for delivery next month-ish.

I test drove a CT without bose using my stock YouTube test music and found it to be spot on.
