I think whenever an ICE car driver encounters an EV - they should be forced to stop and stand at the side of the road and applaud as we drive past.
Or even just a simple salute if they haven't got the energy to clap.

Partly because we are saving the planet for their children and grandchildren.

And partly in recognition of how fast we overtake them.

Clean air is a good motivation for many earlier adopters, but for me, I started (with a PHEV) because of the substantially lower operating cost.

Prior to 2022, I drove a '12 X5 Diesel, and my daily use resulted in 12 mpgs in the city, which caused me to spend $3000 a year for just the daily use.

Between 2021-2024, that cost was literally cut in half, when I owned my '22 X5 45e PHEV. My lifetime MPGs was 53, or about $600 a year in fuel + $600 a year in electricity. And I drove more than the prior X5 Diesel.

And the gravy on top... I custom configured my own $73k sticker X5 and paid $57k (excluding tax) bc of various tax rebates and MSRP discounts. (Sold this for $43k in late 2024)

Thankfully the Taycan is a such an amazing ride, bc I would regret selling this car even more.

Same in London. Makes a huge difference in metropolitan areas. But particularly also the immensely reduced noise pollution.
