I’m having trouble with my fantastic Glass and the fact that I drive in rural areas where cell phone signal isn’t great even without insulated glass. I’ve been thinking about a booster, and I’m wondering if anyone has tried one?

I have the insulated glass and it reduces reception by about 1-bar by my estimates.
If I am really struggling to get any signal at all, I have rolled down the windows to maybe help a little bit.

I would be interested in hearing how well a booster works in the Taycan.

Putting the phone in the wireless charger spot is supposed to amplify signal via antennas.

You can turn off the charger, and it should still work to amplify signal.

You would of course have to use CarPlay or android auto

Booster would require mounting an antenna (fairly big) on the exterior of your Taycan.

This was true in the early Taycans but seems to have been dropped around MY23.

Same problem. I begrudgingly pay for the hotspot, and connect to that (which works simultaneously with CarPlay, and there is a setting to enable phone over WiFi). This seems to work. Well, other than the fact that it can take a couple of minutes for the hotspot to turn on each time the car starts. Which doesn’t sound too bad, but if you are in a place where you need to get directions you either have to sit for a few minutes or open the windows like a savage. ;-)

Sadly, Canadian cars (my wife's Audis have had this issue too) don't have data plans as an option - ifs not that it can't do it, nor that other cars in Canada don't, it's a VWAG decision that I don't understand, charge me more, do something, let me sign up for my own plan from my cell provider, NOPE

I just noticed we all have flags in the upper right of our posts (as you mentioned Canada and there’s the maple leaf). This makes me wonder why mine is Japan?? I don’t remember setting that. And my profile says US (which is correct). And I don’t see where to change the flag…

Do you use a VPN.? Either it's a data mapping error (IP to geo location) or you are being routed through Japan.

Ah, it’s IP at post time based? My phone has private relay enabled, which I believe is effectively a VPN. Thanks!

We have a 2020 4S. We are starting to struggle with signal as well. After chatgpt told us about the built in signal on 2020-2022 models, sure enough, my signal in car play signal screen icon showed 2 more bars while sitting in the wireless charger and my wifes phone was 2 bars less.

 Here is a little hack we are going to try before getting the external atenna.

:fingerscrossed: I'm going to turn off the wireless charging ( usually overheats iphone ) but keep in the wireless caddy and also have my hotspot on and have me wife connect that way instead of her own cell signal. We usually have Verizon LTE in our area. But the glass really drops packets and speed bad. So this might be solution. I will report back.
