compliments on Taycan 2022?

My most memorable interaction with another driver occurred near my home while I was at a stoplight. I kept hearing a honking behind me, so I turned to my left and there is this guy in a beat up pick up truck gesturing wildly to me. I figured my car was on fire and I was so panicked I could not roll down the window for a few seconds. I finally get my window down so he can tell me what part of the car is on fire and he yells "Man that is the coolest car! I just had to tell you! Awesome! I love it!" Or something to that effect.

He had the biggest smile on his face and looked like the friendliest guy on the planet. I was half tempted to trade my Taycan for his truck if that was making him so happy. I smiled weakly and accelerated away as the light turned green and the last I saw of him was his giant hand with a thumbs up out of the passenger window.

I don't think I was that happy to see my car for the first time at the dealer.

That’s a great story. That guy is already ahead of the majority. Genuine happiness is rare and willingness to spread it is even rarer as one ages.

Comparing to some of the horror road rage videos on YouTube recorded by tesla cams ,this is a breath of fresh air. I’m also aware media over represents the negative but hope to see more feel good stories!

Women don’t really care about the car but rather how the guy with car treat them relative to other women.

Having owned many Porsches over the years, I have found that the group least likely to noticeably pay attention or compliment includes young women and middle to upper economic class members. The group most likely to look/compliment includes middle-aged women, children, and members of the lower economic classes.

At the risk of generalising or stereotyping, I think that demographic split might apply far more generally than to just complimenting Porsches...I'd say it's more about being comfortable about initiating unsolicited conversation with complete strangers. (Also, young women in particular are likely mindful of not wanting to be thought to be hitting on the stereotypical Porsche owner...whoever that might be)

I actually think that the young women of today (of course, not all young women) don't really care about cars at all or what people drive . . . As a matter of fact, even though I used to race cars, my twin sons (18 years old) barely drive and are not yearning for a car (and don't want one for university).

Despite being interested in cars from early teenage years, I preferred (our convenient local) public transport and Dad Taxi until after university...in fact, thinking back, it was leaving home for good that made me realise I needed to get my own car...then it sort of escalated from there ?

The only compliment I’ve received was when I was charging at Harris ranch for the first time on my way home to SoCal after taking delivery in NorCal. I was standing 20ft away in the shade watching the car and two truckers approached the car one saying “what piece of shit is this!” The other guy looked at me and asked if that’s my car and I replied “yes that’s my piece of shit”. I’ll take that as a compliment.

My wife was at the grocery store today. When she came back out she noticed a woman in her 50s taking video of our CT4. She asked my wife if it was her car then proceeded to tell her how much she liked it. My wife thinks it’s strange how many people take pictures, video, or give thumbs up ?

The sales rep at Porsche congratulated me on the great job I did in configuring my car. He said it was one of the best looking specs. But that’s his job and I presume he tells that to everyone.

I got the same compliment so take that for what it’s worth lol

I bought my first car when I was 23, mind you I was a student in London and I would not own a car even now if I lived in London, and I couldn't afford a car any earlier anyway.
