Lets see what JLR say (and the tox report from the coppers). This isn't an airbus last time I checked, you can still select neutral and the brakes aren't fly by wire. You might have to dab them a bit harder, but they will still work.

Says it came to a halt when it ran out of charge- convenient that it didn't run out of motorway first.

Surprising that there's no detail about his previous time having to call the Police when it was doing 120mph.

BTW I think the Taycan brakes aren't directly connected to the hydraulic system. That said, I wouldn't have thought a battery issue that still enabled drive power would prevent mechanical brake operation (or the other controls, including parking brake- which presumably performs an emergency stop like the Taycan's- and power off switch)

They are. Even in complete failure of the electronics, you have a mechanical connection from the pedal to the servo unit. Of course with the ECU and hence booster motor NOT working you won't have any "boost" in braking pressure proportional in normal circumstances to how hard you're pressing the brake pedal. That's the "fail safe"

Getting slightly OT but curious- there's a redundant link between them that's normally closed (by valve) but becomes operational in case of the wire control failing?

Remarkable how all the systems failed simultaneously and all without a trace.

I've had a couple of yellow and red electrical fault warnings that did that!!

I can’t find it but there was reported I think on this forum and I recall that an NHTSA complaint was filed and I believe the link to it was posted (because I read it) about a Taycan that reversed uncontrollably after “starting” in the owner’s driveway, could not be braked or stop reversing, and crashed into a house across the street from the owner’s home.

This reeks of yet another EV hit piece. It's as if the article is blaming the method of propulsion for brake failure, as if this could never happen in an ICE car!
