Most cayenne / macan drivers here appear to be female. Kinda feel awkward flashing them. Could look a bit... Erm...

I can try tomorrow and report results.

Just don't get in trouble, ok?

(^contrived joke on the difference between 'flashing someone' and 'flashing at someone')

I drive a Wrangler around town, so waving back at other Jeep bros with all of the JC Whitney accessories you could imagine gets boring after a while.

Most Porsche I see are cayenne or macan owned by women or wealthy suburban drivers looking for prestige car so no one waves.

With my 997 tho, anytime another 911 gets a glimpse of you it’s flashing high beams and frantic waving

I think this may also be a function of scarcity. In areas where there are not many, I imagine there is a greater chance that someone will notice and acknowledge. By contrast, in areas where they are plentiful, you honestly stop even noticing.

They are so plentiful around here that it seems like whenever two 911s are parked too closely together overnight, a baby Boxster arrives the next morning . . .

Taycans are a bit more rare, but, honestly, seems like there are more and more every day. Only unusual colors seem to be easy to notice.

I flash other Taycan drivers in the Washington DC region.
Generally, they look straight ahead with no recognition or response.
Different breed. They're not all three letter government agency staff.

According to a recent survey of 2,000 motorists by a UK insurance company (that I'd never heard of), here are the top 10 marques for rude driver behaviour:

"According to our latest nationwide survey, BMW (50%), Audi (28%) and Mercedes Benz (17%) drivers have been voted the most impolite motorists on Britain’s roads. Land Rover (15%), Porsche (11 %), Tesla (9%), Ford (7%), Jaguar (6%), Vauxhall (6%) and Aston Martin (5%) drivers are also seen as amongst the least courteous...

...Whilst there does seem to be a clear consensus on BMW drivers being the rudest out there, more than half (58%) agree that the brand of car doesn’t matter and that it’s the person behind the wheel that is at fault. So maybe it isn’t the BMW that makes the driver rude, and they were just rude all along…"

...On the other side of the coin, Ford drivers were voted the politest with 21 % of the vote, followed by Kia (16%), Toyota (15%), Nissan (15%), Volvo (15%), and Skoda (15%). Mini drivers (14%) are also seen as courteous on the roads, along with Vauxhall (13%), Volkswagen (13%) and Bentley (9%) owners."

I infer that the stated %s are the proportion of the 2,000 respondents who named a particular marque as the one with the rudest (or most polite) drivers. I don't think that the data has been normalised to factor out the relative volumes of each marque on the road- which I expect would have promoted Porsche up the rankings. It's a pity that there's still such a negative perception of Porsche drivers in this country. (I've decided not to post the link as I don't think that the survey warrants too much analysis, anyone interested can search it themselves.)

I find this a bit silly, I am an early tesla owner and when there were few tesla out in the wild you'd acknowledge other tesla drivers but since the car became more main stream with the introduction of the model 3 that went away, I'd be expect to wave many times on a trip and the new owners couldn't care less. with the porsche I don't pay attention to another porsche, around where I live there are many porsches on the roads.

Here it's golf drivers. I'm not sure if it requires a certain type of drivers that buy a golf or if it's the golf that transforms them into being aggressively obnoxious. Kinda a chicken / egg thing.

Back to Porsche, they definitely like to horde up ?

Yesterday I parked my car near home at a square. There's about 30 parking slots there.

This morning when I got to the car, there was a cluster around me... A blue cayenne on my left and a white Panamera behind me. All other cars were at least two parking spaces further away.

Damn. Should have taken a picture.

Honestly, over the past few years in the US, I find that KIA and HYUNDAI drivers have overtaken the BMW and Altima drivers for being the most rude and aggressive. Of course it is not the brand itself, but something about the brand that attracts a specific personality type.

For ranking Porsche, I would separate out the "normal" Porsche drivers from the Porsche drivers who manually deploy spoilers and leave them out when parked. I consider the latter to be a different species altogether (worthy of Clarksonesque ridicule of course).
