I had rear tires replaced on my 2022 Taycan (sadly only 6600 miles). The tire person made sure to make whatever connection was needed so that the tire gauge would register pressure. When I drove out of the tire repair place there was a message on the dashboard about new tires detected, and shortly after the new pressures showed up on the gauge.

Now a. couple of days later, there's a warning message on the dash saying "Tire change detected - New selection", but the pressure gauge doesn't show tire pressure for any of the tires, even the front tires that are original to the car.

Suggestions?

Sorry I don't know, but to help others please edit your post to clarify if the new tires were installed at a Porsche dealership.

I had a similar problem, check they have not swapped the wheels from one side to the other.

In any event, go into the tyre menu and select a different tyre/wheel type and then re-select what you have fitted to force it to recalibrate.

I went into vehicle settings, chose all weather 20" wheels instead of hot weather 20" wheels, and now the pressures are showing. go figure.

Another part of the software designed by an uber geek rather than someone who actually uses the car.

Unnecessarily complicated to the extent it doesn't "just work".

When your tyres were changed, they most likely did not put the wheels in the same position as when you came in with the car. Most tyre service around me will reset the system as part of changing tyres.

I think this is normal procedure on a few German cars

While this is true for a lot of other parts of Taycan UX, this seems to be almost there, the only thing missing would be a “Reset TPMS” option. They could have tied complete rediscovery to turning off Jack Mode, but I suspect more people would complain than like it, plus some non-OEM shops will not put the car in Jack Mode (which can result in weird behavior for some cars).

In the end, when servicing the car at the OEM dealer, they should know how to reset it. If servicing at third party shops, the good ones lookup what to do or at least ask the owner. Personally I always set my cars to Jack Mode when dropping off, tell them I will take care of the TPMS reset myself, which I prefer doing anyways (then again, it’s rarely that I drop off my car at tire store, I typically just drop off and pickup tires which I put in my car myself).

Reset tpms is all it needs. My old RS4 had exactly this. As did several other cars.

What they seem to have tried to do is predefined allowable deltas in pressures for different tyre set ups.

But they've done it in a half arsed fashion (IMO). Either label them in plain English, and ensure every single option is covered or just allow a reset.

And as tyres change all the time, the latter is the most sensible.

(I even think part of the system allows you to note allowable deltas manually iirc).

For me personally the current system works very well as compares to other cars I've had. Whenever I swap out wheels for a new season (I use 20" winter tires for winter, 20" all-season for spring and fall, 21" summer tires for summer). When I swap them, I just select the new type and size tire, select full load, and it tells me the tire pressures it is expecting. It also picks them up shortly after I start driving, then shows me compensated pressure differential to do some final adjustments.
