Dealer wait times reducing?

I'm ordering a 4S saloon via Octopus EVs, I had been told by Octopus that the wait time was 2 years!

However, on Friday I got a call from the dealer (Wilmslow) and he confirmed that all UK dealers have increased allocations in 2023 and most of the bottlenecks seen with things like BOSE, ceramics, batteries etc are now starting to free up.

He said 2 years was far too long and it would be nearer to 1 year so not to give up, this may have been 'sales talk' but felt genuine to me!

It also tallies with many of the comments and threads on this site so let's wait and see - be great if anyone else has heard similar or something completely different?

Hi. For the Taycan, depending on model wait times are 9-18 months I’m told. GTS has longer wait times than standard or 4S models.

I ordered a 911 GTS and that still has 2 years +

Can't say about UK but in Portugal, I ordered on December 22nd, got a confirmed allocation around Jan 9th with freeze date end of this month, build scheduled for last week of March and delivery around April 7th.

If I go into the configurator (EU version) and build up a RWD, on the bottom it displays "Estimated delivery July". When you pretend to order it directly online, it let's you choose between July and August delivery.

No idea if that's accurate but when I ordered my own car, the configurator was displaying "May delivery".

I think wait times will move forward at some pace by summer.

It's not because of more allocations. It's becayse of more cancellations.

However, your dealer won't tell you that because they'll worry you too will be put off and cancel too.

Think of how many people would get "spooked" and then start thinking about second hand values...

ties in with what the dealers I've called directly (not mentioning a lease order) have said... 4S towards the end of '23. But when last I asked about my lease order, it was still end of q1 24!

I've just emailed Cambridge to see if anything has changed on mine since last Oct when I last heard

As much as I’d like to believe that, as it would mean I get my Taycan quicker I’m not sure I buy it.

All car prices are coming down equally, cost of living has reduced impact at this level and the Taycan remains the stand out choice in its sector. I know we see at lot of heater issues on these forums but I’m not convinced that would really put off buyers?

My experience is that these forums massively over play small issues like this due to the nature of their use.

Unless I’m missing something?

Taycan buyers are cancelling for financial, lifestyle or economic reasons (used prices correcting).

It's nothing to do with the car itself!

I walked in to a dealer and they said a standard order now was for a build in Q4 23 with delivery Q1 24. By luck of timing, they said they had 3 demo/showroom cars for an April build slot and one was the CT I wanted. Their policy was that they could sell one of the 3, so I signed up to that. Could have all been a smooth sales piece, but might worth asking if that is an available option?

BTW, At the time, there was nothing in the supply chain causing issues, though BOSE was only available the week before

I got on my dealer's list about two months ago in the western US for a Turbo. I am hearing a year for most cars, longer for the 4S but we shall see.

For whatever reason, Turbo is difficult to get. My SA has an open GTS (both Sedan and ST), but I've never seen a Turbo allocation come through...Partly because I haven't had many people PM for Turbo, partly because Porsche makes less of them (and could be allocating more resources to GTS to get them on the road).

I ordered my Taycan 4S CT in Nov 22 and received my car fully spec with the exception of my electric steering column. My original order was giving my deliver circa July 23 but I believe there had been a few order cancellations which bumped me up the queue.
So all in all I believe things a moving at Porsche and deliveries are getting better.
So good luck and I hope you get your order early too like mine.

I originally ordered my Taycan 4S CT in July 22 received my car fully spec’d in January 23 with the exception of my electric steering column.

My original order was placed in March for a new Cayenne then I switched out to a Taycan in July 22 but at that time my dealer was quoting my deliver circa July 23 but I believe there had been a few order cancellations which then I received one of them which bumped me up the queue to get my early delivery.

So all in all I believe things are starting move at Porsche and deliveries are getting better due to an easing on component supply chain issues
So good luck and I hope you all get your order early too like mine.

I’m extremely new. I’ve been told by my dealer that my order will close end of January and I can expect my GTS in April/May.

Reading these forums make me feel this is unrealistic but my dealer seems to think things are clearing up. West coast USA.

Doesn't seem unrealistic except for the fact its a GTS and the car has to be shipped by boat to you. That makes things more edgy but keep positive

Not surprising really but it will vary depending on model and trim selected. Supply chain issues have eased considerably (the configurator has no restrictions just now) but not fully plus the recession will be taking its toll with people abandoning their queue position and / or forgoing delivery.

Note that there may yet be some other drama out there such as the heat pump (standard for UK) which has caused real issues within the VW Group.

Audi in particular have been plagued with this on their EVs (Q4 E-Tron) which has led to a significant shortfall in deliveries (translating into wait time delays of months).

I suspect similar for Taycan and other EV models in the group. The situation is quite severe to the extent that Audi has had to drop the heat pump and replace with a resistive heater - https://insideevs.com/news/631169/audi-no-heat-pumps-q4/ - can't imagine this won't filter through to other models in the group such as Porsche (hopefully I'm wrong). Changing hardware like this will impact efficiency (range)...another drama in the making!
