Am I right in thinking that that Folkestone eurotunnel terminal Tesla chargers are open to Porsche?
The Tesla App (under “Charge Your Non-Tesla) or their website gives up to date* info on Superchargers open to non-Tesla’s.

Unfortunately there’s no way to tell which ones have the latest v4 pedestals from either info source. But the open ones are listed above.

* sometimes it can take a few days to a week or bit more for the website / Tesla App to fully update when new / non-Tesla sites come on stream.

Did you phone the Charging service when it failed at Shell or other networks?
yes I did. They told me that most Shell chargers are NOT in the Porsche scheme any more. They said that they were unable to tell which is which as there are more than one network of Shell stations.

I have not seen it published either so I asked Porsche UK and this is what they sent me.
they are giving out wrong information about the Shell ones, which are not in the scheme.

Yes, outbound; but note that the Coquelles (Calias) ones on the way back from France are NOT currently available to non-Teslas. Confusingly they are shown as available on the Tesla website map, but not in their app; and they still have the rubber bump stops so you cannot get a Porsche close enough to plug in anyway. There are some new ones adjacent but these would not start either!

The 6 IONITY chargers at the Holiday Inn at Coquelles are very handy in this instance and I’ve never seen them busy.

Yes they are indeed reliable - but the advantage of the ones at the terminal is that we can check in and potentially get an earlier train slot then charge while waiting

Ah, apologies, I missed that!
Can anyone tell me how I can charge at a Tesla charger in the uk? Which app do I need there seem to be a handful on App Store. Whether it’s cheaper than Porsche centres in uk?
(I’m sure there’s a thread on this but can’t find it.)

You need the official Tesla app. Create an account (either via the app or the Tesla website) and register a card. Then you can find and access the open Tesla sites though the section in the app called “Charge My Non-Tesla”.

There are currently 27 Tesla Supercharger sites opened to non-Tesla’s in the UK. Of these currently there are 3 sites which have V4 pedestals, which have longer cables and contactless readers (so you don’t have to use the app to start / stop / pay for your charging at those V4 pedestals).

If you wish to get further discounted prices (the same as Tesla drivers) then you can pay £10.99 every month to get membership.

Remember a standard Taycan will only charge at up to 50kW at Tesla SuCs, unless you have the 150kW enabled 400-800v booster option on your car.

I'm not sure if it was the card or plug and charge that worked for me at Ionity but at Fastned I could not get the card to work but it started easily from the Porsche app.
ESB did not work for me but it was a brand new station that would only start via their app, no cards.
Osprey worked!! Yaay.

In addition to the advice above: For almost all V2/V3 superchargers (it’s fixed in the still-rare V4) a RHD taycan must charge using a stall to the left front of the vehicle, which effectively means that you will block TWO of the Tesla stalls. Definitely not recommended to do this when the station is very busy as that is quite antisocial. Best case is that the rightmost stall is free and there is an empty space to its right - then you won’t block two stalls.

How quick was it?

Osprey bit of a mixed bag, as some of their stations are 400V and some are 800V. The charge rates shown for some Osprey sites in the Porsche app (and Osprey themselves) are hence wise fantasia-ville

It was a pretty new one, so new in fact that they haven’t opened the McD next to it yet. Was a 300kw machine and must have been 800v. I got about 240 for a very short time then dropped off to about 150. Battery was about 35% soc at the time. I also got the pop up message on the dash saying the charge rate was restricted by the infrastructure that may result in slower charging (or some such wording).
I was the only car charging - about 8 stalls.

Just out of interest, can you check your Porsche monthly billing when it comes through. I used the Porsche card on Osprey last month and when the bill came through, I got a charge for KWh used (£0.31) and also a charge for time (£0.22 per min). 10.5KWh delivered in 9 minutes cost on average £0.50 per KWh. So less than the £0.79 per KWh they publicise, but that will vary if you are there for longer and/or the charger is delivery less than the maximum (75KW was the one I was using). All prices rounded and including VAT

Porsche Taycan Dealership charging IMG_2312

From the app. Doesn’t break down how the charge is calculated or whether vat is included.

but as above it is 41p per kw.

I see that this is a UK thread, so maybe there is a difference between UK and Norwegian Ionity stalls. But I was not able to charge an Audi at Ionity with the Porsche charging card. Those who have done the equivalent in UK: any special tricks?

My solution for the Audi tour was to get the genuine Tesla app, subscribe for a month and use Tesla superchargers. That worked so well that I'll consider that method instead of renewing Porsche charging when the three-year car-included period is over. Acceptable charging speed, very good coverage.
