You get a three year free subscription to Porsche Charging Service. When you car does turn up on your My Porsche account you can activate the charging service and they'll post you out the card.

However, I advise you do not activate it until a few days before you're due to collect the car from your Porsche Centre – so as to maximise your three year free period.

For me, it only took four days from activating the charging service to receiving the RFID card.
I activated mine on April 8th because I couldn’t wait. Collected my car April 27th. The contract for the first year however is from April 8th 2022 until April 27th 2023. So they do take delivery date of the car in account.

couldn’t do anything with it anyway. I was hoping the get the charge card earlier. I think I had it before I collected the car. But you can also use the app to connect with a charger.

So you might as well wait. Unless you can’t wait like me.

Didn't know that. And in my case Plug&Charge works great at IONITY and Porsche Centre chargers – so often don't even use the RFID card.

I didn’t know it either but I was happy they did.

I also have a good experience with plug and charge. Works well with Fastned chargers too. The connection is even faster then with Ionity. Nice chargers and locations. And they have a roof which is nice in the current bad weather. Did you try one on one of your trips?

The Portuguese charging system doesn’t sound that different than in the rest of Europe.

Porsche card is good for Ionity but also for other fast chargers. 0,35 cent per kWh and 0,45 cent per minute is still cheaper than others because charging times are short with really fast charging.

I have a shell recharge rfid card for slower chargers and fast chargers where Porsche doesn’t work. Further Maingau for D, Juice Pass for I and Plugsurfing. Usually I use the Porsche card and Shell. Juice pass just once on the Alps and it was the only one that worked and I needed to charge there.

I activated the Fastned app. Works well with plug and charge but much more expensive than Ionity with Porsche card. They are at good locations. And at the end I prefer to pay more and have a good charger location than having to do a detour.

Also activated Tesla app for the same reason. Charging is slower.

I'm not sure. Is your price compromised of the energy provider's kwh price, the charger station's per minute charge, the activation charge, the eco tax, vat and network connection tariff?

Just for giggles, I selected a charger 200m from my current location. It's a 50Kw DC charge station. It's vacant right now. If my Taycan had 20% and I wanted to charge it to 85% at this precise moment, I would need I would pay depending of the card I swipe:

€12.50 - Miio
€11.53 - VV
€18.61 - Prio
€28.98 - Evaz

If I were to check again in 6h or Monday, it could be feasible for Prio to be the cheapest and Miio in the €30+ range

Let's be real. This is utterly stupid. You're forced to check at any given time your best option or you risk paying 3x as much on the same charger.

BTW, just noticed a 60kw charger, 165m from my location that's currently listing

€11.84 for VV

I should take my virtual Taycan there. 50 min to top it up ?

Edit: IKEA charger 60kw, special promo €5.34 right now. Damn. I'm going there right now even without having the car yet. Can't pass on a good deal, right? ?

Not sure how you’re getting 5% discount, never heard this before with wait times of 9-18 months. Get it in writing and don’t waste your time going to another dealer
Larger discounts than that are available.. I was offered 8% from a German dealer last year for a GTS ST with a delivery time of 6 months. I'm loyal to my own dealer, so I'm happy to get a slightly smaller discount from him.

I've not had to use the Porsche Charging Card once yet. Plug & Charge has worked every time in all three countries (Belgium, UK and Germany).

By the way, am I right in thinking when I get my new GTS ST in six months, I will be able to start a new charging contract as the three-years-free comes with the car?

No that sound more complicated. Price per kWh varies a lot. Some have an additional price per minute. VAR varies per country and is added too. some have a connection fee but that is rare.

Less than 20 euro for 20-85 % charge is not bad at all for fast chargers. At Tesla I paid 63 euro last time for 10% more chargign.

Definitely not too expensive. The iberian energy agreement is holding prices within acceptable range.

Thing is, it's very volatile. You never actually know what you're going to pay.

At this point I might be writing for myself but who cares, right?
Great updates. Thanks for sharing your experience!

This will also be my first Porsche. I initially walked into my local dealership to learn more about the Taycan and general Porsche car buying process (allocation; order to spec; etc.)... an SA greeted me; said they were likely not to get any demo Taycans; and said my best bet was to do internet research to learn more about Porsche and the Taycan. Well that was a quick visit!

After scouring YouTube and finding this forum (you all are great!)... I was convinced I wanted the Taycan as my first EV and Porsche. I also wasn't in a hurry to get the car... so reached back out to my local dealership, got in queue (@ MSRP) and waited. After nearly a year, I got an allocation and am awaiting build/delivery!

Keep the updates coming... I hope your April delivery holds!

Yes. The card is tied to the car so when you remove existing car from your My Porsche account, the charging subscription dies off with it.

When new car is added, you subscribe to service again starting the three year free period again.

I went through this process in last week and it was very smooth.

No update so far except that I keep ordering stuff for the car without actually having it. Soon I won't be able to enter the house with all the cute things I've bought. Is there a name for this behavior? Taycanitis maybe?

Until today, I was able to justify most purchases as "I can use it for other things" like the CTEK Sense, the Noco GBX45 booster or the three USB-C to USB-C charger cables but I can hardly justify a Porsche lanyard, colored Porsche wheel center caps, 9 contracts with Energy Providers (I intend to create a thread about how in earth you charge in Portugal in a few months ?)but today I hit rock bottom... found some really nice wheels in 21'' (Since my plan was/is to swap out the stock 19'') and suddenly, without me realising it, I hit the purchase button... ?‍♂

So yeah, now I have to figure out where to store huge rims while I don't have the car

Quick update

Order locked January 28th!

OH MY GOD, IT'S HAPPENING! ?

V250 planned for March 3rd and fingers crossed for a production start on March 17th.

Delivery still planed for beginning April but let's see how it goes.

Anxiously trying to hold off purchasing more items before having the car but it's not easy.

Wheels are en route. Soon I'll have to tell wife huge rims are arriving. Trying to find the right words for that. ?

More updates when I have them.

PS: Still waiting for local dealer to contact me about a potential test drive... At this point it became a joke.

And time for another monthly update.

My SA sent me an e-email today informing me of a delay due to "some production issues envolving the cabin heater"... hmm, really? Such a surprise, never heard anything about that. Nope, no idea what he's talking about :p ;)

Anyway, new estimated date is arrival at Dealership on May 5th. Order also unfroze and is now due to lock (again) on March 30th.

I was really hoping to be able to post on the "April Delivery" thread but I guess I'll have to refrain and wait for the May thread.

On the other hand, I now have an extra month to shop more stuff for the car!
