My Taycan is on the Asteria Leader (cargo ship) bound for San Diego and LA ports in a few days. TYD shows a delivery date at the end of January but if the GPS tracker on the boat is accurate, its about a month ahead of schedule. Maybe those of you waiting in CA won't be waiting much longer.

Our Taycans are on the same boat! Spoke with my SA this morning and informed him that Asteria Leader was due into San Diego by 12/28, but he had no idea and didn't believe me at first. :CWL: With any luck, our cars will be at the dealers before 2022.

Getting from the dock to a dealership in 2 days seems unlikely especially if there are missing parts....are you worried about the tax credit?

Dealer received our car in Dallas within two days of ship arriving Houston port. Sales guy commented he’s never seen a turnaround that quickly before. There’s a chance for y’all too!!

Initially no, as I didn't think there was a chance the car would arrive before January. But yes, now that it's so close, I'd really love if it sneaked in quickly and allowed us to take advantage of the credit.

My 4S is on the Asteria Leader as well. It's been fun watching the ship's journey through the different vessel tracking sites. I even was able to catch it going through the Panama Canal via the Canal's webcam! Mine's going up to Carlsbad from the San Diego port, so it will be close to make it before New Years!

My car was at port for 2 weeks. First in PDI, then in “ port action” for a software update which took about a week, the back into PDI before finally being released for transport. Then 2 more days for transport (only 269 miles).

Are others of the impression that the tax credit will still be available even if you receive the car after the new year? My understanding is Congress has yet to act on a decision to either raise lower or eliminate it

The current tax credit is available until legislation is enacted which eliminates or replaces it. The Build Back Better legislation as written replaces that tax credit with other EV tax credits which limit the credit to vehicles priced lower than Taycans. The effective date of the changes was to be Jan 1, 2022. Build Back Better has not passed. Until it, or similar legislation becomes law, the existing tax credit remains. The effective date replacing/eliminating the current tax credit in future legislation is unknown. And that effective date could be retroactive - meaning EV tax credit laws passed later in 2022 could still take effect on Jan 1, 2022, or some other date.

Does anyone know what pier in San Diego the cars will be coming off? I have nothing to do that day and it would be fun to see a bunch of Porsches coming off, even if I can't get eyes on mine, which has to go up to Riverside from there.

The cars are coming off at berth 24-4 on Monday the 27th (one day earlier than recently planned). Check out this link https://pantheonstorage.blob.core.windows.net/maritime/Ship.pdf on the Port of San Diego web site to see the details.

I actually had the same idea and I talked to someone at the National City Terminal about viewing the off loading, but he said that you can't see the ship from any publicly accessible areas. You can maybe see it from the Silver Strand on the other side of the harbor, but probably too far to get a good look.

Oh thanks, wanna break in? HaHa, I'm known to get myself into trouble sometimes...fingers crossed they make it to the dealer before year end. Good luck!

Me & My SA:

Me: Hey the car arrived in San Diego last night
SA: No, I show it as still on the way from LA
Me: Look, there are about a dozen obsessed owners watching this boat and they obviously have better technology than you do. The boat is in San Diego now
SA: Ok, let me check
Me: (waiting)
SA: Ok, I still don't show it in San Diego
Me: Look, this is about getting the tax credit...
SA: There is no change to tax credit. Porsche would have issued a notice to us sales agents
Me: Again, there are people on the TaycanForum that spend a lot of time researching this, and I believe them
SA: Ok….well...
Me: Look my focus is on getting the car this week, assuming there are no missing parts...
SA: Let me check that for you.
Me: (waiting)
SA: I just checked with (inaudible) department. THERE ARE NO QUALITY ISSUES WITH THE CARS

OK finally I got some info I can use!
