You lost me at "up". It would seem much more likely to me that your vehicle would disembark at San Diego and truck up to LA than that the Crystal Ray would stop at LA on the way back instead of the way up here (I'm in the general San Francisco area).

Apologies for the confusion.

Up to now, all the stops that I've seen the vessel take (via MarineTraffic monitoring the IMO number, rather than TYD) have shown up as part of its route forecast. It went form Emden to Netherlands to Florida to Panama to Ecuador. After each port, the route forecast was showing where the next stop would be.

In this case, the route forecast shows Benicia, but I just got a text from the dealer saying the next stop will be in San Diego, which should be late today or tomorrow. If so, then that's good news.

FWIW, RCC Classic is about a day east of the Panama Canal and is scheduled to hit San Diego first, and then Benicia afterwards. I would think that would be a pretty consistent route, modulo some weird strike or unusual weather conditions, and San Diego tends to have very low probabilities of either of those things.

As of this evening, it looks like I was right. Crystal Ray arrives in Benecia likely late tonight. It doesn't appear to have stopped in San Diego.

Perhaps the next port is San Diego. I wonder if any type of backup of queue at San Diego could have resulted in a change of their route plan.

I'll make you a deal. I just looked at vesselfinder, and Crystal Ray is currently right off the coast of Pacifica not too far from me. I'll swim out, grab your car, and you head down to Panama and snag mine off RCC Classic, which is currently heading through the canal. We'll exchange somewhere around Pismo Beach.

It looks like Crystal Ray is underway again, and as I thought might happen, it is now finally headed to San Diego.

It's such an interesting outcome given that TYD has been saying the car is in San Diego for the past 10 days after a straight shot from Panama to San Diego.

Meanwhile, tracking the actual ship showed that it stopped in Ecuador, Mexico, then up to Benecia, and now finally on its way to San Diego. TYD 'route smoothing' maybe to avoid DoorDash's issue of unhappy customers watching their deliveries go to 15 other places before theirs?

Anyway, happy to report it has a route plan that finally makes sense. I guess, as of today, my car does belong in the 'December 2023 Deliveries' thread!

Crystal Ray is sitting just off the outskirts of Monterey Bay as I type this, and RCC Classic is off the Michoacan coast. It is truly strange how this worked out - I think the ships containing our vehicles are both going to be in port in San Diego at the same time.

pretty sure my car is also on this boat, tracker showing the car should have arrived port SD 9 days ago and my ETA of delivery has changed from Nov 28th to Dec 15th

I thought so since all the timelines match, was suppose to arrive at SD port on 11/23, and now delivery date is same as you 12/15.

just checked my car was actually on this vessel called gental leader which arrived to SD port a day after crystal ray.
